In recent times, Xbox has seen a string of hit games, such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. Now, it appears we can confidently add yet another game to that list (though perhaps not quite on par with their level of success).
Compulsion Games has verified that over a million gamers have played their newly launched action-adventure game, South of Midnight, within just under a month of its release. As reported by Game Rant, the studio’s CEO, Guillaume Provost, stated, “I am certain we’ve surpassed a million players on South Midnight since its launch.
It’s worth noting that Provost further mentioned that the success or failure of South of Midnight doesn’t impact Compulsion Games’ position within Xbox’s primary collection. Instead, their role is to create unique gaming experiences that contribute to diversifying Microsoft’s overall offering.
[We strive] not to produce blockbuster games similar to Call of Duty, but rather to offer unique gaming experiences,” Provost explained, “either catering to underserved audiences or developing projects that enrich our existing collection by introducing diversity.
In our assessment of “South of Midnight,” we bestowed an 8 out of 10, remarking, “Boasting a striking visual appeal, distinctive environment, and a welcome absence of excess content, South of Midnight offers a delightful story-driven action-adventure experience, which is sadly not as common in today’s era dominated by live services and expansive open worlds.” You can read the complete review here.
South of Midnight is available on Xbox Series X/S and PC, and is also available via Game Pass.
