Bakugo’s Unbelievable Pro Hero Ranking Leap in My Hero Academia’s Twist Finale

In the past year, the popular series My Hero Academia concluded its run in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. However, recently, an update to the grand finale unveiled a surprising twist regarding Katsuki Bakugo’s future career as a Pro Hero. In this final chapter of the manga, a time skip of ten years was introduced, following the conclusion of the war against All For One and Tomura Shigaraki. The story then unfolded to reveal how Deku and other characters advanced into the future, but Bakugo’s role took an unexpected turn given his character development throughout the series.

In “My Hero Academia,” it’s shown that despite Bakugo’s grumpy demeanor towards the public, his skills in battle have been consistently strong throughout the series. However, this hasn’t translated into a high ranking, with him not even making it to the top spot. A special chapter released after the finale revealed that he was ranked 15th. But things took a turn when Deku returned to action, causing Bakugo to leapfrog several ranks and end up in fifth place in the latest update of the series.

Bakugo Has a Promising Pro Hero Career After All

Initially, when the storyline of “My Hero Academia” concluded, it had leaped ahead by a decade, showcasing a new hero at the pinnacle of the hierarchy. Despite some members of Class 1-A like Shoto Todoroki making their presence felt, Bakugo was conspicuously absent from that top tier. In a bonus chapter included with the last installment of the manga series that year, Horikoshi added an extra final chapter where Bakugo bid farewell to Deku as they were parting ways. Even though Deku received a custom-made suit for resuming his hero duties, he expressed a desire to continue as a teacher instead.

In Japan, the latest Ultra Age book of “My Hero Academia” was published, featuring additional manga pages set beyond the final epilogue, revealing further developments following the unexpected finale. Due to the super armor bestowed upon him by Bakugo and others, Deku is now a hero when he’s not on duty, and has swiftly climbed to fourth place in the hero rankings. Interestingly, seeing Deku back in action has motivated Bakugo so much that he too has risen to fifth place in the rankings, serving as an inspiration for his rival to push forward again.

Bakugo and Deku Are Eternal Rivals

Despite fans of My Hero Academia not receiving the full-blown romance between Bakugo and Deku as anticipated, it’s undeniable that they share a profound bond after years of camaraderie. Interestingly, it appears that Deku’s feelings for Bakugo might be unrequited, as he seems content with his teaching career following the realization that he wouldn’t have a pro hero career. However, Bakugo struggles to accept this change.

Bakugo’s competition with Deku runs extremely deep, to the point where Bakugo’s own hero career stagnated when Deku was absent. It seems that either he lacked motivation to excel without Deku as a benchmark, or he was simply waiting for Deku’s return before fully committing himself. For years, Bakugo made efforts to aid his rival and closest friend. Only upon Deku’s comeback did Bakugo find his truest happiness. Therefore, the series’ conclusion offers a brighter future for Bakugo than what was initially suggested in “My Hero Academia.
