Russo Bros. DROP ‘Doomsday’ Secret in ‘Thunderbolts’ Post-Credit Scene!

Although the Russo Brothers are busy with their filming duties, they managed to find time to publicize the MCU’s newest addition: Thunderbolts*. They even hinted at a unique post-credits scene that they directed on the set of the upcoming Avengers movie.

If you haven’t watched Thunderbolts yet, do so right away! The Russo Bros. highly recommend it and even hinted at a special surprise for those who stay until the end of the credits. Moreover, they teased Doomsday and implied that a secret scene filmed by the Russo Bros. on the set of Doomsday is coming up.

On May 2, *Thunderbolts* made its debut in cinemas, accompanied by: a brief scene featuring David Harbour as Red Guardian tucked away amidst the credits, and a more expansive one that unfolded following the conclusion of the main film. The latter was overseen by the Russo Brothers, who depicted the reformed Thunderbolts (now known as the New Avengers) in their headquarters, assessing potential dangers and strategizing a possible confrontation with the original Avengers squad.

Towards the end of the scene, Florence Pugh’s character Yelena Belova brings up a persistent issue in space, followed swiftly by a distress signal originating from a spacecraft adorned with The Fantastic Four’s insignia. This sets up an intriguing hint for an upcoming Marvel production, marking the start of Phase Six in the MCU. Despite being early in its theatrical release, Thunderbolts* has been showing strong performance, particularly against other recent offerings from the MCU. It has garnered praise from critics and has so far earned over $160 million at the box office and counting.

Thunderbolts* and Fantastic Four Will Set Up Robert Downey Jr.’s MCU Return

New footage unveiled on the set of “Avengers: Doomsday” within Marvel’s upcoming series, “Thunderbolts”, marks the latest attempt by Marvel and the Russo Brothers to generate buzz for the next Avengers film, the first since 2019’s “Endgame”. Enthusiasts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are eagerly anticipating the direction it will take – a live stream event by Marvel saw 27 cast members confirmed to reprise their roles in “Doomsday”, with the main cast from “Thunderbolts” included among them.

Under their new team name, the New Avengers (consisting of Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, among others), will unite with the original Avengers and The Fantastic Four, as well as some familiar faces, to confront Doctor Doom – the sworn enemy of The Fantastic Four. The return of Robert Downey Jr., who will play Doctor Doom, has sparked excitement across the internet, generating buzz for Doomsday before any filming even starts.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on May 1, 2026.
