Zendaya‘s Met Gala looks? Simply marvelous.
As the 2025 Met Gala approaches in a matter of hours, speculation about the Spider-Man actress’ choice of attire for this high-profile event has intensified. Given her consistent presence on red carpets and her unexpected wardrobe switch last year, fans are eagerly anticipating her fashion decision for the gala, scheduled at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5th.
Without a doubt, at the 2024 Met Gala, the star from Euphoria—who was serving as a co-chair for the event—made an entrance in a Maison Margiela gown with a mermaid silhouette. Later on, she switched to a 1996 Givenchy dress designed by John Galliano, complemented by a floral headpiece from Alexander McQueen. This ensemble was tailor-made for the “Garden of Time” theme that corresponded with the “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition.
For the first time since 2019, this former Disney star graced the Met Gala again. Back then, she embodied Cinderella on the red carpet. Speaking with TopMob News in April 2024, she expressed her feelings as, “I thought it was about time for me to make a comeback to the Met.
Instead, Zendaya has previously worked closely with her long-term fashion partner Law Roach. However, they’re planning to mix things up on May 5th this time around.
Law mentioned to TopMob News’ “The Rundown” with Erin Lim Rhodes in April that they will be on the steps of the Met Gala, but this year they will be attending separately.
Although, as Law admitted, “it’s far away.”
He mentioned to TopMob that they’ve got numerous films coming up this year, and there are many premieres scheduled for the following year, which means we’ll be seeing quite a bit of red carpet events.
When it comes to a timeline, he did tease, “I’m resting up for 2026.”
He commented that the 2025 Met Gala, with its “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme, promises to be absolutely fantastic. This year, they’ll be doing something unique and different, which he finds really exciting.
Apart from attending the Met Gala in 2025, Law is equally excited about another upcoming event: the wedding of Zendaya and Tom Holland.
Although, as Law admitted, “it’s far away.”
He mentioned to TopMob that they will be involved in numerous films this year. Additionally, he noted that there are many premieres scheduled for the following year, which means we can expect plenty of events with red carpet appearances.
When it comes to a timeline, he did tease, “I’m resting up for 2026.”
As we anticipate their wedding, let’s continue scrolling to admire Zendaya’s captivating outfits from the Met Gala over the years, starting with her stunning debut in 2015.
2015 marked Zendaya’s first appearance at the Met Gala. She chose a unique, sun-patterned dress designed by Fausto Puglisi, aligning with that year’s theme, “China: A Reflection in Fashion.
At the New York City event, the actress from Euphoria confessed to People magazine that she had only worn the dress twice before her appearance and found the intense evening to be “thrilling yet overpowering, in a good way.
At the 2016 ball, themed around “Manus x Machina”, Zendaya dazzled in a one-shoulder gown of bronze hue designed by Michael Kors. She also sported a stylish mushroom-shaped haircut wig.
At the 2017 event themed “Rei Kawakubo & Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”, Zendaya radiated an otherworldly charm in her tropical-patterned Dolce & Gabbana dress.
The extraordinary outfit drew quite a few glances, even catching Rihanna’s attention. She posted a picture of the actress from ‘Challengers’ on her Instagram, accompanied by the caption, “Brown divinity.
2018 saw a former star from Disney Channel experiencing her own version of Joan of Arc, as she graced the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a silver gown designed by Atelier Versace, reminiscent of armor. The dress featured intricate chain mail detailing, and she accessorized with metallic Jimmy Choo heels and a bold red bob hairstyle resembling that of the French saint. Her attire paid homage to the exhibit’s theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
Later on, Zendaya herself expressed that this particular red-carpet outfit ranked among her top favorites ever, explaining to InStyle magazine in October 2021, “I felt like a warrior.
Apart from her, many others shared her enthusiasm as well. Her Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland, whom she began dating in 2021 and later confirmed their engagement in 2025, also admired her bold outfit and acknowledged it on Instagram by saying, “Long live the queen. Crushing it friend.
2019 saw Zendaya drawing inspiration from her Disney background to become a genuine princess in real life. Since the event was titled “Camp: Fashion Notes,” the actress from Shake It Up didn’t hesitate to go big, sporting a stunning, illuminating blue Tommy Hilfiger gown. To complete this magical moment reminiscent of Cinderella, her stylist Law Roach accompanied her, playing the part of her fairy godmother in elaborate attire.
Despite its famous appearance, Zendaya mentioned that the practicalities involved in wearing that outfit made walking the red carpet quite nerve-wracking for her.
As I recounted to British Vogue later on, the Met Gala left me quite flustered. You see, I was adorning an electronic dress – a fashion choice that seemed exciting, yet turned out to be a bit more challenging than anticipated. Upon my arrival, I discovered that the dress hadn’t been fully prepared. It was intended to grow in size, starting small and expanding, but it didn’t quite live up to expectations.
In her role as co-chair for the 2024 event alongside Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth, the star of Challengers gracefully stepped up to the occasion, donning two distinct red carpet ensembles. The first, captured in images, was a garden-inspired gothic ensemble by John Galiano, which harmoniously complemented the Sleeping Beauties theme’s “Garden of Time” dress code.
It certainly made her return to the ball after five years all the more exciting.
Repeat the scene where she wore that expression again. The actress from Dune surprised her fans by appearing on the Met Gala red carpet in 2024 as one of the last to walk, sporting another design by John Galliano, and accessorizing with a rose-adorned hairpiece.
