Xbox has announced Gears of War: Reloaded, and it’s coming to PS5.
The game will also be available on Sony’s current-generation console, PC, and the latest Xbox models. It is scheduled to launch on August 26th, 2025, priced at $39.99. You can add it to your wishlist on the PS Store immediately.
Reloaded” is an enhanced version of the original game from the series, and it’s going to support cross-platform play and progress, meaning you can play with others and keep your progress regardless of what platform you’re using.
This updated version of the Xbox 360 game now supports 4K resolution and offers seamless frame rates – running at 60 frames per second during the single-player campaign, and an impressive 120 frames per second in multiplayer mode.
First unveiled in 2006, the updated version of Gears of War: Remastered is now available – optimized for modern hardware on various platforms, allowing a fresh introduction to the Gears of War series for a new wave of gamers.
Developed collaboratively by The Coalition, Sumo Interactive, and Disbelief, Reloaded encompasses a complete package – it offers the primary game along with all additional downloadable content that was released following the launch of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
The game allows for cooperative play between two players locally, and it offers multiplayer options for up to eight people online.
Without requiring a Microsoft account, you can still enjoy online gameplay. However, signing in with a Microsoft account grants you access to the complete cross-play and cross-progression features.
Beyond its enhanced resolution and functionality, the Reloaded version also includes Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), High Dynamic Range (HDR), spatial audio technologies such as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and boasts a campaign with no delay-causing loading screens.
For the very first time on PlayStation, Gears of War: Reloaded introduces the Xbox-exclusive series, marking another step in Microsoft’s strategy to share their first-party game library with other gaming platforms.
This year has been quite a whirlwind for the company, as they’ve released Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Age of Mythology: Retold, and Forza Horizon 5 on PS5, with DOOM: The Dark Ages, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, and The Outer Worlds 2 slated for release in 2025 too.
