Nam-ra and Su-hyeok Deserve Season 2 Spotlight Over On-jo & Cheong-san

In the Netflix series, All of Us Are Dead, there are two significant pairs of characters who have been in the background during Season 1, but now it’s their turn to shine. Although All of Us Are Dead is not primarily a romantic Korean drama, it does devote considerable time nurturing its relationships, especially Cheong-san and On-jo whose “best friends becoming lovers” narrative was instrumental in propelling the story forward last season.

As a dedicated fan of Korean dramas, I must admit that most of the great ones have a touch of romance. Even though All of Us Are Dead is predominantly an action-packed horror series, it’s hard not to hope for a joyous conclusion for its couples. The Netflix K-drama hinted at a love triangle in the early episodes, but thankfully, that narrative didn’t develop further. Instead, we were left with two clear potential romantic pairings, the other one being Nam-ra and Su-hyeok.

Nam-ra And Su-hyeok Should Be The Main Couple Of All Of Us Are Dead Season 2

Their Relationship Is One Of All Of Us Are Dead’s Most Fascinating

In the first season, the budding relationship between Su-hyeok and Nam-ra added depth to the story, but I think their dynamic could take center stage in All of Us Are Dead season 2. Given that they hail from contrasting backgrounds – one being a reformed bully, while the other is an academic standout with no companions – this diversity could lead to compelling romantic development. Interestingly enough, Su-hyeok displayed an interest in Nam-ra right from the pilot episode and even assisted her in evading the initial horde of zombies after the outbreak commenced.

The complexities in Nam-ra and Su-hyeok’s romantic tale escalated when she transformed into a hambie. Surprisingly, it was at this point that Su-hyeok’s feelings towards her became evident. Despite everyone fearing Nam-ra and wishing for her departure, Su-hyeok stood by her side, even risking his own life to demonstrate that she wasn’t turning into a zombie. The encouraging aspect is that while away from the group, Nam-ra managed to master her powers, which could bode well for their relationship. However, with all the chaos unfolding, it remains uncertain if she will have the opportunity to explore love further.

Why On-jo And Cheong-san’s Love Story Will Probably Take A Backseat In Season 2

Even if Cheong-san Is Alive, They May Not Get Together Right Now

The current situation isn’t hopeful for Cheong-san and On-jo. As of now, it appears that Cheong-san met his end in the season 1 finale. However, considering the storyline often brings characters back to life, there’s a strong possibility he will reappear in season 2. Regardless, if Yoon Chan-young’s character does return, it’s reasonable to expect a significant change. After all, Cheong-san was bitten by a hambie, which would mean he’d come back as an asymptomatic zombie should he survive the fall and explosion.

It’s important to recall a gap of four months occurred between the Hyosan bombings and the end of season 1. Given that Cheong-san might still be alive somewhere, he may have decided to stay away from his friends for their safety. This would likely make it challenging for On-jo and Cheong-san’s relationship, adding another layer of complexity to their already intricate love story.

Nam-ra And Su-hyeok’s Relationship May Be Bittersweet In All Of Us Are Dead Season 2

Nam-ra Could Have To Choose Between Hambies And Humans

Nam-ra and Su-hyeok find themselves in a more advantageous situation compared to much of Season 1, but a storybook romance isn’t likely on the horizon for them just yet. It’s evident that Nam-ra has endured significant hardships during those four months, and her ambitions now appear to extend beyond mere survival. The closing scene of All of Us Are Dead Season 1 leaves me with the impression that Nam-ra is working to safeguard other “hambies” from the humans who are hunting them.

The second season of “All of Us Are Dead” has been labeled as a “zombie survival saga,” indicating that this time around, we’ll be cheering for the zombies instead of the humans. It will be intriguing to observe how Nam-ra’s decision between safeguarding her newly formed hambie companions and reuniting with her classmates might impact her relationship with Su-hyeok. Regardless of her choice, their interactions are likely to create an engaging dynamic when “All of Us Are Dead” eventually makes its comeback.
