Halo the Final PS5 Holdout of Xbox’s Historic Big Three

As the excitement over Gears of War’s upcoming PS5 release continues to echo, this leaves Halo as the sole survivor among Xbox’s original three iconic titles.

Over time, Microsoft faced criticism for focusing too heavily on its self-proclaimed trio of Halo, Forza, and Gears. However, to their credit, they have expanded their offerings substantially – a move facilitated, in part, by approximately $100 billion spent on acquiring publishers and developers.

However, while it appears that the entire collection is set for the PlayStation 5, it’s worth noting that Master Chief, a central character, has yet to make an appearance on Sony’s platform.

It’s highly likely that the changes will occur later this year, given the persistent whispers about the Halo series potentially being released on PlayStation for a while now.

More recently, Tom Henderson, a reputed journalist at The Verge, hinted that Halo: The Master Chief Collection might be planned for PlayStation 5. However, he cautioned that it may not feature all the games from the franchise right away on its launch.

It’s plausible that Microsoft could decide to offer each title separately for sale, similar to how they are handling Gears of War: Reloaded, which includes only the initial game instead of the complete trilogy as previously anticipated.

Regardless of the route taken, it’s just a question of when Master Chief will pop up on PlayStation’s social media platforms, and that’ll be an incredible occasion. As the face of Xbox since the platform’s debut, witnessing the character formally join forces with PS5 is going to feel oddly thrilling yet exhilarating.

Reloaded has been immense, with more than 53,000 individuals expressing appreciation for PlayStation’s tweet about it on Twitter. The level of interaction we’re seeing is likely to double once Master Chief is set to enter the scene.
