King Charles III and Queen Camilla are forever painted in history.
On May 6, marking the second anniversary of their coronation, Buckingham Palace revealed two portraits, created by artists who had worked with the royal family in the past. Initially, these paintings will be exhibited at the National Gallery, later to be relocated to their permanent home in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace.
Check out the detailed images of King Charles III and Queen Camilla‘s Coronation State Portraits, recently unveiled on the royal family’s Instagram. These magnificent portraits, soon to be a part of the Royal Collection, were crafted by two distinct artists handpicked by Their Majesties themselves. The King opted for Peter Kuhfeld to paint his portrait, while Queen Camilla chose Paul S. Benney.
Over the past year and a half, Kuhfeld disclosed that Charles sat for his portrait five times at St. James’ Palace while having his portrait painted. During these sessions, he was shown wearing the Robe of State, his naval uniform, and medals in preparation for his coronation.
Upon his ascension to the throne in 2022, I felt privileged and thrilled to be asked by him for creating his Coronation State Portrait. Previously, I had the opportunity to paint Prince William and Prince Harry when they were still young. In a statement, I expressed that my aim was to create a portrait that embodied both humanity and regality, continuing the long-standing tradition of royal portraiture.
As I immersed myself in the creative process, I found immense joy in every stroke. Sharing my thoughts while I painted felt incredibly natural, leading to countless conversations and tales exchanged between us.
On six distinct occasions, Camilla, aged 77, found herself seated in the Garden Room at Clarence House, where renowned British designer Bruce Oldfield sketched her in her elegant ivory coronation gown. It’s been disclosed that this artistic endeavor spanned close to a year from start to finish.
Benny expressed that it was a great honor, a precious opportunity, and an absolute joy to create the initial official portrait of Her Majesty following her coronation. With a touch of sadness, he mentioned that the sessions for this significant assignment have now concluded.
As I’ve spent nearly a year in a temporary studio at Clarence House, I’ve amassed a treasure trove of heartfelt memories from countless hours of captivating and at times laugh-out-loud conversations with Her Majesty on a myriad of topics. I’ll surely miss the tranquil and unrushed environment when I was there, even during moments when Their Majesties were occupied elsewhere.

Approximately a year since King Charles III revealed his cancer diagnosis, he penned down on April 29th that his personal health journey and cancer treatment have underscored the most remarkable aspects of human kindness.
In the handout for the event offering support to individuals battling cancer, Charles wrote: “Every diagnosis, every new case, is a challenging and sometimes terrifying ordeal for the affected individuals and their families.” However, as someone who has been one of those statistics myself, I can attest that it can also be an experience that vividly highlights the most compassionate aspects of humanity.
Beyond expressing my gratitude, I’d like to acknowledge the healthcare workers who stood by me during my journey. Their efforts have truly magnified my admiration for the extraordinary tasks performed by these outstanding organizations and individuals present tonight. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of knowing, visiting, and supporting many of them.
On April 20th, this year, Prince William, Duchess Catherine (Kate Middleton), Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were absent from the traditional Easter celebration held by the royal family at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.
Overjoyed by the grand festivities unfolding within Buckingham Palace, I chose to forgo the royal celebration this time around. Instead, my beloved family – the remarkable Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with our precious children – opted for a quiet weekend retreat at our charming Norfolk country home. The news outlets confirmed it, but to me, it was as if they had shared this intimate detail personally.
For the second year in a row, their absence was noticeable during Easter, as the celebration occurred a week following when the Princess of Wales revealed her cancer diagnosis in 2024.
On April 15th, it was announced that Jason Knauf had been appointed as the new CEO for The Earthshot Prize, led by Prince William. Approximately seven years after he filed a complaint against Meghan Markle, accusing her of bullying two assistants and attempting to undercut a third staff member, his promotion was announced. A representative for the Sussexes dismissed the accusations, telling The Times that the claims were part of a “strategic defamation campaign built on misleading and damaging falsehoods.
In 2022, Buckingham Palace looked into the accusations, but no conclusive evidence was disclosed to the public as the case was officially closed.

77-year-old Graham Craker, who served as a protector for the royal household, including Princes Harry and William, passed away in April.
Craker was there among the boys as they found out that their mother, Princess Diana, had tragically passed away. He took part in the funeral ceremonies for her.
In 2017, Craker shared with The New York Post that he stood at the back of the hearse, and Prince William “looked up and recognized me.” I then returned his gaze and gave a nod. It was reassuring to him that I was accompanying his mother on her last journey.
On March 12th, Hugh Grosvenor, the godson of King Charles III, along with his wife Olivia Grosvenor, shared the news that they are expecting their very first child.
According to a representative, the duchess is due to give birth this coming summer. The couple are overjoyed about the upcoming addition to their family and are eagerly anticipating starting their life together as parents. (The Telegraph reported this.)
Frederick, the offspring of Prince Robert and Princess Julie, passed away on March 1st at the tender age of 22, following a courageous fight against Mitochondrial Disease, a seldom-encountered genetic ailment.
In Robert’s statement, he expressed that Frederik is like a superhero not just to him, but also to their entire family, friends, and now, thanks to the PolG Foundation, many people around the world. He added that one of Frederik’s unique strengths was his ability to motivate others and lead by setting an example.
On January 22nd, Prince Harry, also known as The Duke of Sussex, settled a lawsuit with News Group Newspapers (the proprietors of The Sun and the now-defunct News of the World). This legal action was initiated in 2019 due to claims that journalists and investigators employed by these newspapers had allegedly acted illegally to acquire information about the royal family.
The agreement entailed the company providing a significant compensation, along with delivering an unreserved apology to Harry and recognition of the extensive media coverage and intrusive nature of their private lives, specifically mentioning his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales, according to NBC News.
On January 14, it was announced by the Princess of Wales that following her full course of cancer treatment, she is now in remission.
She expressed her sense of relief at being in remission and continues to concentrate on her healing process, as she shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) on January 14th. It’s no secret that those who have been diagnosed with cancer understand the need for patience when adapting to a different way of life.
She went on to express her excitement for what’s to come, saying, “I’m eagerly anticipating an enriching year ahead.” Or simply, “I’m excited for a rewarding year ahead.” Both convey the same sentiment of looking forward to the upcoming year with enthusiasm.
In a heartfelt manner, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, grieved over the passing of her cherished rescue beagle, whom she welcomed into her home as early as 2015, well before her union with Prince Harry.
On Instagram, she posted on January 7th: “I’ve shed so many tears I can’t even count. It’s the kind of tears that lead you to step into the shower, hoping the water streaming down your face will somehow erase them or make them seem unreal. Yet they remain. And it’s alright if they do.
Meghan expressed her gratitude for numerous years of selfless affection, addressing her dear Guy. “You’ve enriched my life in ways that remain a mystery to you,” she concluded.
