Girls Next Door

The Girls Next Door was a snapshot in time.

It’s the reason that Holly Madison, who is now 20 years past the debut of the show, which followed her life along with Hugh Hefner’s other girlfriends at the Playboy Mansion, believes a sequel or spinoff of the series was never produced.

She expressed to Keltie Knight of TopMob News during an exclusive interview that the show is never to be rebooted because it captured a unique cultural moment live. One can enjoy it from two perspectives: either appreciating its visual appeal as initially perceived or understanding the events happening behind the scenes, which adds a new dimension.

Partly due to those hidden facts, Holly, along with Bridget Marquardt (a fellow Mansion alum), initiated their rewatch podcast titled Girls Next Level.

Speaking about season four, the 45-year-old expressed excitement and said there’s a lot to discuss. “It definitely develops its own momentum,” she added (Don’t miss Holly on TopMob News on May 7 at 11 p.m.).

However, the realization that Girls Next Door is marking its twentieth anniversary has left Holly feeling quite taken aback. “I feel incredibly old,” she admitted. “It seems like a lifetime ago. It’s absolutely mind-boggling.

A lifetime ago, yet Holly has still held onto items from that era of her life.

She openly acknowledged, “I indeed have a considerable collection of mementos,” she said. “On our podcast, we often discuss these keepsakes. I enjoy incorporating subtle references, such as wearing a dress from the show we discussed, which I call ‘Easter eggs.’ Consequently, I can be quite a collector.

However, Holly openly acknowledges her fondness for certain items, but since she shares children Rainbow (12) and Forest (8) with her former spouse Pasquale Rotella, Holly stores the majority of her cherished possessions in a storage area instead of displaying them at home.

Holly mentioned, “I prefer my children not to be exposed to this part of my past,” noting her hesitation about when to disclose this aspect of her history to them. “Right now, I find myself concocting strange reasons. It’s peculiar because today’s kids at that age are unaware of Playboy due to its significant transformation.

In the interim, if strangers approach her seeking photographs with her kids, she explains that’s due to her YouTube presence. After all, motherhood doesn’t come with a manual.

Holly explained, ‘No matter how many parenting books you read, each new stage catches you off guard.’ She added, ‘Your children develop in their own unique ways, and it’s a constant process of discovery. When people ask me about addressing certain topics with them, I honestly don’t know what I’ll do until I actually face that situation.’

Kendra Wilkinson was among the three women who lived with Hugh Hefner at his Playboy Mansion when the show “The Girls Next Door” started in 2005. The audience became so attached to Wilkinson that she received her own spin-off series, titled “Kendra“, on E! after departing from the original program in 2009.

Following my groundbreaking stint on WE tv, I embarked on a new chapter of my life with the series “Kendra On Top.” This journey chronicled my role as a mother to my two wonderful children – Hank IV, born in September 2009, and Alijah, who joined us in May 2014. Additionally, it documented my marriage to NFL player Hank Baskett, whom I had the honor of marrying at the iconic Playboy Mansion on June 27, 2009.

The pair parted ways back in 2018, with their divorce officially concluded in the subsequent year. Fast forward to 2021, Kendra obtained a real estate license and started featuring on her own Discovery+ show called Kendra Sells Hollywood.

While my favorite series is currently on a break, as Kendra temporarily steps away from her real estate career, she’s been hinting at a new reality show lately. I can hardly wait!

In terms of exploring a supposedly haunted history of a mansion or organizing events like Hef’s birthday party, Bridget was always the go-to person. She was preparing to unveil her radiant self on Travel Channel’s “Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches” and had made appearances in popular shows such as “Entourage,” “The House Bunny,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

This version maintains the original meaning while using more natural, conversational language to make it easy for readers to understand.

Marquardt’s fascination with the mysterious and unexplained has returned to its full potential, as she hosts the podcast “Ghost Bunny,” where she conducts interviews with celebrities who have encountered the inexplicable, delves deeper into various unsolved enigmas with experts’ assistance. Additionally, Marquardt started co-hosting the “Girls Next Level” podcast with Holly Madison in 2022.

Once part of an iconic trio, she happily paired off long ago with partner Nicholas Carpenter.

After leaving the Playboy Mansion, Holly Madison went on to have a thriving career. She participated in ‘Dancing with the Stars’, followed by creating and starring in ‘Holly’s World’, a show that focused on her professional life in Las Vegas, including her role in the ‘Peepshow’ residency.

In 2015, she released a candid memoir titled “Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny“. This was followed by another book in 2016 entitled “The Vegas Diaries: Romance, Rolling the Dice, and the Road to Reinvention” as well.

For many years, this individual has been a strong supporter of PETA. She is the mother of daughter Rainbow, born on March 5, 2013, and son Forest, who arrived on Aug 7, 2016. These children were born to her during her marriage with Pasquale Rotella.

Beyond her involvement in the A&E docuseries titled “Secrets of Playboy“, she also discussed her intricate bond with her costars from “Girl Next Door” on an episode of the podcast “Call Her Daddy” in 2021. “Bridget and I have always been close,” she stated. “We’ve been friends since day one, and she is truly kind.” When questioned about any romantic involvement with Kendra, Holly simply answered, “No.

Indeed, Holly proves her and Bridget’s bond each week on the Girls Next Level podcast.

Despite the fact that all the women from “The Girls Next Door” held a unique spot in Hefner’s heart, it was Crystal Harris who ultimately married the Playboy magnate in 2012. This marked Hefner’s third marriage at the age of 86. They stayed together until his passing in 2017.

After Holly shared details about her relationships with her co-stars, Crystal promptly chose to align with one of them. On her MeWe account, she wrote: “I lived at the mansion over a DECADE ago, which is nearly four years back now. These ladies and their drama were already there long before that. With so much time having passed, I stand with Kendra on this issue.

She questioned why these women, who had an extraordinary and unique experience that likely won’t occur again in our lifetimes, seem unable to get along. She went on to say, “Perhaps it’s for the same reasons Holly and Bridget seem to dislike me without cause. I can only hope that someday we can all put aside our differences, share our experiences, and understand each other better.

In 2016, when I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, I felt compelled to take action and advocate for awareness about this illness.

2024 saw her start a new relationship with Jim Ward, and she also mentioned that she intended to return to using her birth name instead of Crystal Hefner, which she had adopted after her 2012 wedding.

Speaking with TopMob News seven years following Hefner’s passing, Crystal expressed, “I’m in a significantly improved state now. My next move will involve reclaiming my original surname, which is an important step for me to fully embrace who I truly am.

Following the departure of the initial girlfriends from “The Girls Next Door”, twins Kristina and Karissa Shannon moved into the Playboy Mansion in 2009. As the series progressed, they marked their appearance in the “Playboy” Summer Issue in Las Vegas, enjoyed camping trips in the backyard with Hef, and prepared for minor roles in Sofia Coppola’s film, “Somewhere”, which was set at the Chateau Marmont.

Once their performance ended, Kristina and Karissa moved on to participate in the ninth season of Celebrity Big Brother, and they also established a beauty salon jointly called Glam Beverly Hills.
