Ellams expressed: “I’d love to see more tales with such depth, character, and detail, yet they don’t hinder the Doctor’s main mission – saving the day, no matter who he encounters.
Additionally, the author noted that while the series delves into discussions about racism, it’s essential for future narratives to focus on intriguing tales where the Doctor’s appearance doesn’t play a crucial role in the plot. In simpler terms, they hope for stories that don’t heavily rely on the Doctor’s physical characteristics.
As a movie enthusiast, I must say that this film keeps the protagonist constantly on his toes, finding himself in perilous predicaments requiring swift and creative use of his resources to navigate the thrilling journey ahead.
Furthermore, while his skin color plays a role in his interactions with others, it is only one aspect. It holds minimal significance overall.
This installment of the show represents a groundbreaking moment as it places the TARDIS down in Lagos, Nigeria. Ellams refers to this choice as a warm gesture, an extended hand, towards the fanbase residing in that region.
Ellams pondered over his past self, musing, “As I grew fond of Doctor Who, I contemplated who I once was, the significance it held for me back then, its relevance to me today, and my endeavor to craft a narrative that embodies all these memories.
He shared that the key lesson from the story is to acknowledge others when their contributions are significant, specifically pointing out his effort to recognize the intricate cultural nuances and racial variety present within Nigeria.
In a similar vein, both characters Dot and Bubble embody themes that encompass racial issues as well as technology reliance, the impact of online communities that reinforce our views, and the challenges faced in navigating social media platforms.
