On social media platform X, Gamble, who is also an executive producer, advertised a vacancy for a Senior Technical Artist to help shape the future of Mass Effect. Notably, BioWare currently only has this one job opening listed, with no other positions advertised on their usual platforms like EA’s website. This could be a promising indication that new installments or expansions in the Mass Effect franchise might be on the horizon.
It’s usually concerning when a studio is hiring for numerous positions during production, particularly crucial roles like Senior Technical Artist. While this role is significant, it doesn’t fall under leadership positions. The fact that they are actively seeking a Senior Technical Artist might suggest that the team is fully staffed and development is progressing smoothly. If there were issues, such as high turnover or vacant positions, we would likely see more evidence of it.
Currently, the industry is not actively expanding its workforce as one might expect. Instead, it’s experiencing a significant contraction. However, prestigious AAA studios such as BioWare continue to recruit extensively, which indicates that there are still opportunities available in the market, and it can’t be attributed solely to the scarcity of openings.
One intriguing aspect of this hint is the language used. To call something “the future” might seem straightforward, but in the context of software releases, it’s technically the future. Moreover, the choice of words could be just empty corporate speak or jargon. But on the other hand, it might also suggest larger plans that extend beyond a single update, especially considering that Dragon Age may not see any new developments anytime soon after the disappointing reception of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. So, could BioWare be secretly working on substantial changes for Mass Effect?
