Sony’s New First-Party Studio Working on Lighthearted Team-Based Action Game for PS5

Sony has formally revealed a fresh in-house studio called teamLFG, that they’ve separated from Bungie. (Fun fact: The abbreviation LFG stands for ‘Looking for Group’, which is certainly not the most appealing name choice.)

It’s possible you remember rumors about this developer – for some time now, there have been whispers. When Bungie underwent layoffs, it was suggested that Sony may have brought in a team of skilled workers to work on a secret project called “Gummy Bears”.

Hey there fellow gamers! I’ve heard whispers about this upcoming game that promises an exciting mix of MOBA-style gameplay and a dash of Super Smash Bros action. Some juicy details have even leaked earlier this year, so if you’re as intrigued as I am, check it out here for more info!

Although teamLFG didn’t demonstrate any gameplay during their studio presentation today, they did provide details about their current projects.

However, we too are unsure of what exactly constitutes a ‘frog-type game’.

Inhabitants, get ready to explore a humorous, whimsical realm that blends science fiction and fantasy elements in an entirely new cosmos! We’re eager to share more details soon.

By the way, if you’re anticipating that this team might create standalone blockbuster games akin to The Last of Us and God of War in the future, I regret to inform you that their focus lies elsewhere – they are primarily dedicated to creating interactive, social environments. In fact, some members of their team have been involved in projects such as Rec Room and Roblox.

They plan to create interactive multiplayer universes driven by action games, where players can spend endless hours learning, playing, and perfecting their skills.

We aim to involve our gaming community in the creation of our games. By offering early access playtesting opportunities, we invite them to contribute to the game’s development process directly.

It’s essential that we remain adaptable so we can respond to player feedback, not only during the pre-launch phase, but also during the ongoing development of the game and its community for many years.

Anticipating the discussion and feedback, which is bound to surface, as we unveil our team’s first game during the forthcoming State of Play broadcast…
