Teddi Mellencamp: Stage 4 Cancer Battle and Her Emotional Journey

Teddi Mellencamp is sharing a heartbreaking update on her battle with stage 4 cancer.

A former cast member from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” who is currently receiving treatment to reduce tumors in both her brain and lungs, has lately disclosed her genuine feelings about losing her hair after shaving her head ahead of her brain operation in February.

In her Instagram post on May 6, the 43-year-old expressed her daily choice between wearing a wig or not: “On crying days, I usually opt for the wig.” She also shared that the ups and downs of stage 4 brain and lung cancer treatment are quite intense. She kindly urged everyone to get their annual check-ups.

Teddi, mother of Slate (age 12), Cruz (age 10), and Dove (age 5) who is separated from Edwin Arroyave, stated, “It’s Melanoma Awareness Month. There couldn’t be a more fitting moment to schedule an appointment and remind a friend or loved one about this.

The co-host of the “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast delivered an emotional statement, approximately one week following her debut on the red carpet since she shaved off all her hair earlier this year.

On April 28, Teddi gracefully emerged for the An Unforgettable Evening 2025 Gala, an event supporting the Women’s Cancer Research Fund. For this charitable occasion, she donned a stylish black pantsuit with a deep neckline and matching silver footwear. Notably, she chose to go without a wig for the evening.

A few days ago, I eagerly followed an encouraging announcement from the reality star, who’s also the daughter of music legend John Mellencamp. She shared that she’s undergoing a combination of immunotherapy and radiation therapy as part of her treatment plan.

In her Instagram video posted on April 23rd, Teddi expressed, “I’ve shed my tears, now the crying is over. Just now, I completed all my scans, and it appears that my tumors have noticeably reduced in size. The doctors are optimistic about this development, suggesting that everything will go as planned, and soon I should be feeling better and returning to my normal self.

Teddi, who was earlier told by doctors she had an even chance of surviving, further stated, “I plan to maintain a hopeful perspective as that’s the tone my doctor used when speaking with me. He essentially said, ‘You’ve done well so far, you can do this. You have Mellencamp heritage, and it’s strong.’

Yet, this doesn’t imply that the treatments haven’t had a tremendous impact – both mentally and physically – on the celebrity.

In a conversation with ET on April 17, she expressed that it might not be clear to you how intense the agony I experience on certain days can be. This is truly terrifying for me, given my children are still young.

Teddi, who was earlier told by doctors that her chances of survival were 50/50, further stated, “I’m choosing to maintain a positive perspective since that’s how my doctor approached the situation. He said, ‘You’ve already accomplished this, now you can do it again. You have Mellencamp blood in you, which means you’re strong.’

Yet, this does not imply that the treatments have not caused a significant mental and physical strain for the celebrity.

In a heartfelt conversation with ET on April 17, I confessed my fear that they might not grasp the overwhelming agony I experience on certain days. Leaving my precious three children without their mother is a terrifying prospect, as they are still so young.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I embarked on an unforgettable adventure in June 2024, leading a lively group of five family members and friends to the magical realms of Disneyland and California Adventure. The day was filled with laughter, joy, and the creation of memories that will last a lifetime. On Instagram, I shared my experience by penning, “They might say it’s a small world, but my feet certainly tell a different tale!

“I needed this,” Teddi captioned a pic with her youngest. “Thank you.”

In July 2024, Teddi took to social media with a post expressing pride as her eldest child achieved a significant accomplishment: at just 11-years-old, they leaped to a 90 in the Junior Hunter Finals and clinched victory in the Classic Stake!

In August 2024, Teddi posted on Instagram saying, “Why was I tearing up? It’s because…

1. I’m going to miss them dearly.
2. Seeing them grow older reminds me that I am also aging.
3. Now, I can work peacefully without interruptions during the day.
4. A mix of all these feelings has left me feeling sentimental.”

Wishing you a happy birthday, Dad! It was such a joy to hang out with you during the Capital Challenge Horse Show this past weekend. And the final moment captured in those photos? Well, that’s a gift that just doesn’t stop giving! Sending you all my love, John Mellencamp.

Slate, Dove and Cruz enjoy a day with grandpa.

The Bravo alum posted on Instagram, “My grandfather, who’s 93 years old, is chosen ahead of me for our family football game’s teams. Yet, it seems the main debate among our family is about the choice between pumpkin and apple pie. What’s your preference?

Teddi celebrates Thanksgiving 2024 with her three kids.

“The North Pole comes to SoCal!” Teddi shared with a festive photo.

In February 2025, the co-host of Two T’s in a Pod penned a heartfelt message: “Happy birthday to my little miracle,” they said. It’s hard to believe that it’s been five years since you entered our lives and made them so much better and more vibrant. Yet, no matter how big you grow, you will always be Baby Dovey to me.
