YouTube personality Rachel Griffin Accurso publicly expressed her heartfelt response upon receiving a personal letter penned by the beloved children’s TV host, Mister Rogers, from her husband and creative partner Aron Accurso – who together just welcomed their second child.
On Instagram, Rachel shared on May 5th: “Upon opening it, I couldn’t help but be overcome with emotion. As I trace my fingers over the very paper that my idol once touched and composed music upon, I find myself in tears.
As a popular creator of content for children, the 42-year-old woman expressed appreciation for a kind gesture when she was feeling low. This act reminded her of the significant influence that the late broadcaster, Fred Rogers, had on her childhood, causing her to reflect upon those memories.
As a young child, brought up wonderfully by a single mother, I used to watch a lot of PBS. Whenever Mr. Roger’s trolley moved back into the television tunnel, I’d instinctively try to stop it with my hands, hoping that it would extend the show for a little while longer.
Additionally, Rachel mentioned that their Christian faith played a significant role in shaping both her and Rogers’ professional endeavors, as he passed away in 2003.
She shared that she prays every day, seeking guidance from God on how to assist children. She acknowledged the criticism Mister Rogers faced for standing by his convictions, but vowed to emulate his actions. She intends to persist in her mission, which is to serve young children and their families, a calling she will never abandon.
Rachel had been away from her YouTube channel for several months, a platform with over 14 million subscribers. She informed her audience in March that personal family matters required her attention. In April, she shared the wonderful news of her daughter’s birth, named Susannah, who joined her older brother Thomas, aged 7.
At that time, she posted on Instagram, ‘We’re now bound together as one family for eternity.’ We feel an incredible sense of thankfulness and share a strong connection. It’s been an incredibly lovely journey. I’m astonished by her.
