Death Stranding 2: The Metal Gear-Level Evolution You Didn’t Know You Needed!

Recently, Kojima Productions extended invitations to a select group of game journalists to experience Death Stranding 2: On the Beach in Tokyo. Reflecting on these accounts, it appears that the young franchise is undergoing a significant enhancement or upgrade.

In this game, action unfolds in both Mexico and Australia. The character Sam, who played a significant role in creating the Chiral Network in the first game, now finds that it’s controlled by an Advanced Artificial Intelligence called the Automated Porter Assistant System. Essentially, Sam’s duties have been replaced by AI technology.

In the updated settings, there’s a stronger focus on climate elements, such as rain causing floods and strong gusts potentially derailing your path. To successfully accomplish your tasks, you’ll have access to cutting-edge technology that allows for customization of items ranging from your backpack to the vehicles used in your missions.

Various platforms such as Eurogamer.net refer to it as an enhancement similar to the transition from Metal Gear Solid to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The fundamental structures laid out in the initial game have been significantly extended in this edition.

The combat system seems to have undergone a major overhaul, drawing inspiration from Kojima’s earlier Tactical Espionage Action titles. The shooting mechanics, whether against humans or terrifying BT creatures, feel more satisfying, and there appears to be a wider range of stealth options and creative strategies. Additionally, it seems that the game features open-world camps to clear out, reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain’s structure.

In this new version of the game, maintaining global online connectivity continues to be essential. To succeed, you’ll need to invest in establishing infrastructure across the globe, an action that could garner appreciation from fellow players similar to social media “likes.” This time around, you can construct not just ladders and bridges but entire monorail systems as well. However, the core dilemma of the game remains: was connection truly beneficial?

Another point to note is that the previews were demonstrated on a standard PlayStation 5 console in performance mode. So far, there’s been no negative feedback about the gameplay, suggesting it could provide a stable, high-quality experience. It’s also likely that the game will run even smoother and look more visually stunning on the upcoming PS5 Pro model.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but exclaim: This truly seems like Kojima’s latest culinary creation! It’s unmistakably Death Stranding, but the addition of Metal Gear Solid-esque combat and enhanced gameplay mechanics promises to elevate this game to yet another grandmasterpiece crafted by the visionary video game innovator. And let me tell you, it looks absolutely stunning as well!
