The Hallmark community is mourning a tragic loss.
Nathaniel Pelletier, famously known for portraying a recurring taxi driver character on the television series “When Calls The Heart” on the Hallmark Channel, passed away on April 11 at his home in Langley, B.C., as stated in an online memorial notice. He was 53 years old.
The actor passed away “suddenly” while at his residence alone, per the obit.
The obituary stated that he lived among us for just 53 years, yet his kindness and tireless work spirit left an indelible impact on numerous lives. Whenever help was required, he was always ready to offer assistance, often before it was even requested. He was a charismatic individual who adored meeting new people, welcoming them with a radiant smile and a hearty handshake that mirrored his warm personality.
Pelletier is survived by his daughter, Myhrsades, who was described as his “greatest love.”
The obituary noted that Nathaniel’s deepest affection was for his daughter, Myhrsades (Murray) Jones, whom he held in great esteem. He delighted in presenting her with concert passes to enjoy her favorite group or arranging travel plans to unique destinations. His pride in being a globe-trotter was evident.
The actor, who not only acted on screen but also held a job in the transportation department and loved working in various roles behind the scenes, shared a strong bond with his colleagues as well. In fact, after his demise, his costar Martin Cummins, known for playing Henry Gowen on When Calls the Heart, described their unique relationship in a touching tribute.
He shared that he’s spent more time at work in the blue room, either alone or with Gord and Nate, than he has on camera. This was posted on Instagram on May 3, accompanied by photos from behind-the-scenes. He described Gord as a mentor figure to him, while he and Nate were like Gord’s sons, playing around town, exploring the woods, and joking together.
Pondering the truth that “life is always evolving,” Cummins remarked, “Nothing stays the same. The Valley won’t be the same without Nathaniel Pelletier. He was a kind spirit and I felt privileged to know him as a friend.
