Jason Watkins and Robson Green’s Tense Face-Off in The Game: Who’s the Real Stalker?

The rivalry between Robson Green and Jason Watkins is intensifying as they face off in their upcoming series The Game, which debuts on Channel 5 next week.

The storyline unfolds as a suspenseful game of cat and mouse, focusing on Huw Miller (Watkins), a former detective, who carries the burden of not having apprehended the elusive Ripton Stalker in the past. However, when new neighbor Patrick Harbottle (Green) moves in, Huw becomes increasingly convinced that he may have finally found his long-sought quarry.

As Patrick prepares for their game, Huw bombards him with a barrage of queries prior to their round of “Twenty Questions,” but the atmosphere rapidly becomes unsettling.

When Huw wonders if it’s inappropriate for him to suspect that Patrick knows a lot about him, Patrick replies: “No, you’re not wrong. In fact, I wasn’t entirely truthful with you. I looked you up online. I read extensively about the case you were involved in, and I am truly sorry.

Living under such circumstances would surely feel overwhelming. Not having any idea about his identity, location, or activities – it’s something that could easily push me to the brink of insanity!

Wanting to know what Patrick was getting at, he soon delivered a dark blow: “Are you over it yet?”

In an interview with Deadline, Watkins praised the relationship between the characters, stating, “The interaction between them is incredibly engaging.” Additionally, Green remarked, “It’s like a cat-and-mouse chase where these two characters seem to be constantly tracking each other.

According to Green, the way Patrick phrases “see you later” seems to stir something inside Huw, making him feel as if he’s found the person he’s been looking for, as he shared with the publication.

Patrick comes across as excessively friendly, which leaves Huw with an uneasy feeling that things aren’t quite as they seem. It soon becomes apparent that a game is being played, but is Patrick manipulative or simply misinterpreted by Huw? Or could it be that Huw’s suspicions are growing due to psychological distress?

He went on to say: “What’s captivating about this show is the surrender of Huw, brilliantly portrayed by Jason. The question remains, is Patrick simply a well-meaning person worried for his wellbeing, or is he mentally tormenting him?

The four-episode sequence starts on Monday, 12th May, at 9 PM, and continues each night up to the final episode on Thursday, 15th May.
