Tom Ellis Drops Bombshell: Returning to 'Tell Me Lies' for Wild Season 3—Here's What to Expect

It’s almost time to untangle another web of lies.

Approximately five months following the renewal of “Tell Me Lies” for a third season, leading actor Tom Ellis, who portrays college professor Oliver in the Hulu series, has revealed details about the forthcoming season, including his plans to instigate even more dramatic events.

Ellis, aged 46, shared with People at the CBS Fest on May 7 that he will indeed be returning. In fact, he’s planning to go back this coming Saturday to kick off filming.

Although Ellis didn’t disclose the release date for the third season, given his marriage to the show’s creator Meaghan Oppenheimer, he hinted that viewers should expect an increase in dramatic layers within the storyline. Intriguingly, he has already had the chance to read through the first four episodes.

He went on about the show, saying it remains as ominous, poisonous, and amusing as always. It also features Grace Van Patten and Jackson White. Furthermore, he commented that our characters found new ways to act even more absurdly than before.

In the second season of the show, Oliver’s troubled romance with student Bree Benson (Catherine Missal) faced numerous obstacles. Earlier in the series, Oliver began an affair with Bree, despite being married to her professor Marianne, played by Gabriella Pession. Bree grappled with the concept of being his secret girlfriend, but it was eventually uncovered that their relationship wasn’t as hidden as she believed.

Toward the close of the season, it was made clear by Marianne that she had known about their affair throughout and that in her and Oliver’s case, they practice an open marriage – a fact unknown to Bree.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d like to share an interesting perspective on the third season of a popular show. Although some might find Oliver’s persona off-putting due to his toxic vibes, I personally believe that there are numerous instances where he demonstrates redeeming qualities. This is based on my observations and interpretations, as I delve deeper into understanding characters and their motivations.

From my perspective as a die-hard fan, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this captivating series. Meaghan, the brilliant mind behind it all, hinted that we might witness a leap in time, propelling our beloved characters beyond their college years. Can’t wait to see where they end up!

In an interview with Variety last December, she stated that as time passes, we’ll encounter increasing amounts of future events. By the third season, she believes we’ll still see some elements from 2008 because there are loose ends to tie up. However, she suggested that the overall feel might be slightly different, with a greater emphasis on 2015 than on 2008.
