Ever since the launch of the “Gabby’s Dollhouse” series in 2021, children worldwide have been joining a grand sprinkle party hosted by Gabby and her friends on Netflix. This beloved preschool show, brainchild of esteemed storytellers Traci Paige Johnson and Jennifer Twomey, is a unique blend of media that offers a thrilling surprise before diving into an enchanting animated world inhabited by endearing cat characters who reside within Gabby’s dollhouse. In the latest movie, Gabby (played again by Laila Lockhart Kraner) embarks on a journey with her grandmother Gigi (four-time Grammy winner Gloria Estefan) to the bustling city of Cat Francisco. However, trouble arises when Gabby’s cherished dollhouse is stolen by a quirky cat lady named Vera (Kristen Wiig, nominated for an Oscar). This prompts Gabby to embark on a real-world quest to retrieve the Gabby Cats and save her beloved dollhouse before it’s irreparably damaged.
This movie boasts an impressive ensemble of comedic talents, such as Ego Nwodim, Kyle Mooney, Melissa Villaseñor from Saturday Night Live, Thomas Lennon who has been nominated for Emmy awards (Reno 911!, American Dad!), Jason Mantzoukas (Invincible, Big Mouth), and Fortune Feimster (Fortune Feimster: Crushing It, Velma). The original cast from the beloved series will reprise their roles as Pandy Paws, CatRat, Cakey, DJ Catnip, Baby Box, MerCat, and others. Ryan Crego, who has received a Children’s and Family Emmy nomination for his work in Arlo the Alligator Boy, directs Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie.
In 2024, as reported by Nielsen, the Gabby’s Dollhouse series ranked ninth among all original streaming series with the highest viewership. Subsequently, Netflix increased the total number of episodes to a hundred, and the eleventh season was premiered on Netflix in February 2025.
