In my observation, “My Hero Academia” has unveiled a concluding one-shot following the culmination of the original series’ storyline, effectively dashing any prospects of Shota Aizawa adopting Eri down the line. Throughout the course of this remarkable series, several character narratives were intricately woven together, and none was more captivating than that of Aizawa. Initially appearing as a rather stern pro hero instructor at U.A. Academy, it soon became apparent that he harbored deep affection for his students, going so far as to risk his own wellbeing to shield them from harm.
As the story progressed, Aizawa gradually unveiled aspects of his personal life, becoming apparent that he was not only a father figure to Deku but also to other students. A character who fans adored seeing with Aizawa was Eri, and there were whispers among fans that Aizawa might eventually adopt Eri due to their strong bond. Regrettably, this doesn’t materialize in the storyline.
After I regained my senses following a crucial moment, a gathering ensued. With a heart brimming with goodwill, I voluntarily welcomed Eri – who had cut ties with our organization – into my care. Now, I’m proud to share that I’m looking after Eri alongside the other Pussycats.

My Hero Academia Splits Up Aizawa and Eri
According to the latest book from Ultra Age on My Hero Academia, focusing on the hero world post-series (as observed by @Color_Division on X), it’s revealed that Eri was officially freed by the Shie Hassaikai at the end of the heroes vs villains war. Later, Mandalay from the Pussycats adopted Eri and Kota, forming a bond similar to siblings in the future. While some may be disappointed if they hoped for Eri to become Aizawa’s daughter in the future, there’s still a glimmer of hope left.
In an additional story set within Ultra Age, we find Eri and Aizawa’s bond intact in the future. Now high school students, Eri visits U.A. Academy as a guest, presenting a token from Mandalay to express her gratitude towards Aizawa for caring for Kota while he attended U.A. Their relationship remains strong despite the passing of time, though it seems more like friends or mentor and protégé rather than father and daughter as some fans might have hoped.
Aizawa Still Has a Bright Future
Although Aizawa may not take on the role of an adoptive father in the future, his path remains illuminating. Despite being unable to engage in pro hero work due to his battle injuries, he persisted with his duties at U.A. Academy. Reminiscent of how the series hinted that his main mission was safeguarding the upcoming heroes, it suggests that this commitment would extend even more profoundly as he continues to motivate the future generations.
He’s been taking care of Kota and the others who joined U.A. Academy following their inspiration from Deku and the rest during the war. Despite not developing a more specific bond with Eri as some fans might have expected given his relationship with her, he maintains a paternal connection with all young heroes. Rather than focusing on a single path, Aizawa channels his abilities to foster the overall growth of Japan’s future hero generation.
