Forza Horizon 5 Reportedly Sold 1.4 Million Copies on PS5 in its Launch Week

In its debut week, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle saw impressive sales figures on PlayStation 5, reportedly outperforming both Xbox Series X/S and PC. However, Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 5 appears to be in a league of its own, with Rhys Elliott, head of marketing at Alinea Analytics, disclosing on BlueSky that it sold an astounding 1.4 million copies on the console alone.

It appears that the open-world racing game is allegedly outpacing both Sea of Thieves and Indiana Jones in sales. According to a chart comparing their eight-day sales data, Sea of Thieves sold approximately 657,300 units, whereas Indiana Jones and the Great Circle managed about 132,900 units.

Remarkably, Forza Horizon 5 managed to outperform its predecessors even before its official release, thanks solely to early access players. Given that this feature is limited to Premium Edition owners, it implies approximately 702,400 individuals shelled out $100 for the game.

Regardless of the platform, Xbox’s initial collection of exclusive games is exceptional, and it might get even better with the simultaneous launch of Gears of War: Reloaded and The Outer Worlds 2 on PS5, Xbox, and PC. Keep an eye out for further news, and in the meantime, don’t miss our review for Forza Horizon 5.

In just its sales on PlayStation, Forza Horizon 5 has already reached 1.4 million copies. This game is currently selling at double the pace of Sea of Thieves and significantly faster than Indiana Jones (comparing launch-matched figures). What impressive numbers! Can you envision how many more units the next Forza Horizon might sell when it launches simultaneously across platforms?
