As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been following the journey of Rust Console Edition closely this year. The PlayStation 4 version has been a staple for me, but it looks like we’re moving on to something even more exciting – a dazzling new PlayStation 5 edition!
Pedro Silva, a senior community manager at game developer Double Eleven, has updated everyone about the current status of the game via social media.
Starting on May 29, 2025, the previous generation console edition of Rust will no longer be available for purchase. The entire system will then be shut off permanently in October.
This coming summer sees the release of the PS5 edition of the game (no specific date yet). Once it’s out, players can upgrade from the previous version without any additional fees; however, they should transfer before October, as the PS4 version will be deleted then.

You can get a very brief glimpse at the new console version of Rust in the above teaser.
Do you enjoy playing games developed with Rust on your PlayStation 4? Are you looking forward to the upcoming PS5 release, which is expected to supersede the current version? Share your thoughts in the comment section beneath this post.
