EastEnders Shocker: Lacey Turner Quits as Stacey Slater After Heartbreaking Storyline

Lacey Turner has been confirmed to be leaving EastEnders.

This beloved actress will be taking some time off from the daytime drama series this year, choosing instead to concentrate on aspects of life beyond the program. Back in 2004, she initially graced our screens as Stacey Slater.

According to Lacey’s statement to The Sun, she and Stacey are planning to have some downtime. As for what Stacey might do during her break, well, given Stacey’s nature, it certainly won’t be dull!

A representative for EastEnders announced to the press: “It’s true that Lacey will be absent from the show later in the year, but there are still lots of exciting events unfolding before then. We eagerly anticipate arranging Stacey’s comeback when Lacey feels it’s suitable.

According to The Sun, Turner decided to step away from the series after a hectic period in Lacey’s life, with demanding scenes on the show and the arrival of her third child in January off the set.

Even after having just given birth, Turner continued to play a significant role in the special 40th-anniversary live episode that aired in February. This episode primarily focused on the character of Stacey, portrayed by Turner, who lost her second husband Martin Fowler, played by James Bye.

Following Martin’s funeral, Stacey returned to Walford after a brief absence, and since then, she’s been grappling with the heavy burden of grief.

In the upcoming episodes of EastEnders, it will be shown that Stacey remains confined to her room due to her struggle with grief, placing her eldest daughter Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) in a position where she has to take care of Stacey, her baby daughter, and her other siblings.

With increasing worry within the family about Stacey’s well-being, it seems her emotional state has reached a critical level. However, the extent of her distress and whether it could lead to her departure from Walford remains uncertain.

Turner previously left EastEnders in 2010 and was absent until a return in 2014.

In addition to her work on EastEnders, Turner has also ventured into hosting with the podcast titled “We Started Here.” This show delved into the careers of actors from soap operas, both before and after their stints in long-running dramas. Notable guests included Jessie Wallace, Mandip Gill, and Anita Dobson.
