Actress Heather Peace, known for her role as Eve Panesar-Unwin in the popular BBC series EastEnders, recently posted a video on Instagram detailing that she received a cancer diagnosis in October 2024.
As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I’ve been thrilled to follow Peace’s journey in EastEnders since she joined the cast last year. Recently, she shared a captivating video detailing the process of getting her wig fitted to keep embodying Eve on the show over the past few months.
I’ve added this caption to the Instagram video I’ve shared – it reflects a significant stage in my recent experience that I thought you might appreciate. It’s all about #Teamwork at @bbceastenders, as I went through the process of getting a wig fitted.
For several months, I’ve been navigating a challenging path. Back in early October, I received a breast cancer diagnosis. Following this, I had surgery and spent my Christmas break recovering. Today marks the conclusion of my chemotherapy treatment.
This morning, I awoke to find myself at the finish line of the London Marathon, with the massive clock in sight. In other words, I’ve just received my medal.
Peace shared in her post: “I’ve undergone a profound transformation during this period. My focus has shifted, and my world has become more confined. I’ve cherished the most valuable time with my wife Ellie and our daughters, Annie, Jessie, and Lola. I’m simply trying to savor each moment with them. I’ve remained stationary. I’ve discovered happiness in life’s smallest pleasures.
I’ve found my interactions with others to be sincere and genuine, as I lack the ability for casual chit-chat. It’s been a significant personal transformation, and I’ve experienced numerous benefits. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the entire EE team for exceeding expectations. Special thanks to our exceptional makeup team. And to Alex Rouss for the authentic wig, and Linda for the precise cut. I feel incredibly supported by all of you.
I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all friends in my neighborhood who have been a constant support for me and my family whenever needed (you know who you are). My deepest appreciation also goes out to the dedicated professionals at the NHS. You are truly remarkable, skilled individuals, providing prompt care while maintaining dignity and compassion. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Life has taken on a fresh, delightful feel these days, and I’m truly appreciative of every blessing that comes my way. I consider myself incredibly fortunate. Warmly, Heather xxx
Additionally, Peace has appeared in various television shows such as Lip Service, Waterloo Road, Holby City, and This England, alongside her role in EastEnders.
This year, Balvinder Sopal, who portrays Suki (Eve’s wife on Peace), expressed her desire for upcoming plotlines to depict “two influential women thriving in a strong marriage and jointly managing the Square as equal partners; excelling at what they do best, shaping the world together.
