Cassie Ventura wasn’t the only woman in the picture.

In a court appearance on May 13, the “Me & U” singer provided testimony against Sean “Diddy” Combs during his sex trafficking trial. During this time, Ventura stated that Diddy was romantically involved with both herself and Kim Porter – who tragically passed away in 2018 – at approximately the same period.

According to Ventura, as reported by NBC News, their relationship began after they spent a significant amount of time together following her 21st birthday trip to Miami. Initially, they spent a lot of private, one-on-one time without making it public for several years. He felt the need to keep it secret because of his children and personal matters such as family.

The specifics of how this suggestion was made are hazy in my memory. It apparently involved hiring an escort and arranging for me to perform in front of Sean.

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but ponder this thought: If I were to abstain from these actions, there’d be a possibility that incriminating evidence could surface and potentially be exposed to the public eye.

In the end, Ventura admitted that engaging escorts was a task she undertook to ensure Combs’ satisfaction.

She expressed, while testifying, that there had always been a lingering suspicion she might be harmed by him. Sean is quite divisive; his charisma made it difficult to discern his true intentions in the moment he was speaking with her. Ultimately, she admitted that she couldn’t predict what might transpire.

Cassie Ventura shared with prosecutors on May 13 that during the initial stage of her ten-year romance with Sean “Diddy” Combs, he suggested incorporating voyeurism into their intimate moments. She admitted she didn’t initially understand what would arouse him, but she took on the task. She felt perplexed, anxious, yet deeply loved him and wished to bring joy to him. It wasn’t an action she desired, particularly not as frequently as it evolved, but once more, she was in love and sought his happiness.

She admitted, “At some point, I felt I didn’t have much of a choice.”

In their on-again, off-again relationship spanning from 2007 to 2018, Ventura claimed that Combs often displayed violent behavior towards her.

She informed the jury that their disagreements were indeed fierce, often escalating into acts of physical violence such as hitting her head forcefully, pushing her down, dragging her across the floor, and kicking her.

She mentioned that her injuries were frequently noticeable, explaining that she’d develop knots on her forehead, swollen eyes (black and red), redness in her eyes, and bruises covering various parts of her body.

On May 13th, Ventura was prepared to testify following Daniel Philip, and Combs’ defense asked for her to be positioned on the witness stand prior to the jury entering, as she is eight months pregnant.

Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo stated to the judge, “I believe there’s an element of bias,” explaining that pregnancy carries a natural beauty and can evoke feelings of compassion.

It was during the trial that Ventura was introduced, implying they had missed their chance to challenge the decision with a motion from his defense team earlier.

On one particular instance when Ventura didn’t immediately respond to Combs’ call, Philip testified on May 12 that upon this, Combs allegedly hurled a bottle of liquor in her proximity, then forcibly grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into the bedroom. “She was shouting,” Philip recounted, and from his vantage point in another room, what he heard sounded like him striking her. Philip added that it seemed as though Combs had said, “I told you to come here, you come here now, not later.

Phillip said he was “terrified” and did not intervene.

He additionally confirmed that he picked up what seemed like Combs physically attacking Ventura in another incident at the Essex House hotel in New York. “I heard her apologizing repeatedly, there was someone being hit and thrown around the room,” Philip explained. “I peeked around the corner and I saw Mr. Combs exit the hotel completely naked, he might have had a towel wrapped around him.

Ventura exited the room and landed in Philip’s lap, as he stated. He went on, “‘She was trying to assure me that everything was alright and she would be fine,'” Philip explained. “I responded, ‘This isn’t alright and you need professional assistance.’

“I tried to explain to her that she was in real danger if she stayed with him,” Phillip said.

In response to prosecutor Maureen Comey’s question about why he didn’t contact the police, Philip explained that he viewed Combs as a person with immense influence. He implied that even if he had reported the situation to the authorities, there was still a high chance that his life could have been in danger.

Daniel Philip, who claimed to be operating a male strip show at the time, testified that he was given a substantial amount of money, roughly a few thousand dollars, for engaging in sexual activities with Ventura, while Combs observed from Manhattan’s Gramercy Hotel in 2012. Philip stated that Combs was dressed in a robe, a baseball cap, and a scarf concealing his face, but he identified him by his voice.

According to Philip, Ventura stated she would give him a tip upon leaving, and that’s what transpired. Later, they engaged in sexual activity while rubbing baby oil on one another for a short while. Meanwhile, Combs was observed masturbating in a corner.

Afterward, the witness continued, Ventura gave him “a couple of thousand more.”

In the span of a year, I found myself in a series of unexpected situations, both at hotels and the residences of Ventura and Combs in New York City. On one occasion, or perhaps twice, I was videotaped by Combs during an intimate encounter with Ventura. At times, Combs would insert himself into these encounters, engaging sexually with Ventura while I was present.

In the 2023 legal action she filed against her former partner for charges of sexual assault and physical violence, Ventura claimed that Combs compelled her into having intimate relations with male escorts.

According to Florez, Ventura appeared frightened. She huddled in a corner with her hood up and seemed to be hiding. The floor held the remnants of a shattered flower vase nearby.

After Ventura departed from the hotel, Florez mentioned that she had a noticeable purple eye. Later, when Ventura was absent, Florez stated that he and the desk manager went up to the room to remind Combs about the “hotel regulations.” According to Florez, Combs suspected the manager of recording him on his phone and attempted to take it. When Combs tried to seize Florez’s own phone, Florez testified that he restrained Combs against a wall. They clarified they weren’t recording him, Florez added, and diffused the situation.

During the trial, the prosecution displayed the slowed-down version of the surveillance footage depicting Combs seemingly striking, kicking, and pulling Ventura – this footage was initially published by CNN in May 2024. Earlier, the defense had suggested that the video might have been sped up, making the altercation appear more violent than it actually was. Additionally, the jury viewed a video that Florez recorded on his phone when he responded to an emergency call from a distressed woman residing on the sixth floor.

Florez stated that he chose not to contact the police immediately as Ventura refused to answer questions regarding the incident and expressed her desire to depart.

LA Police Officer Israel Florez previously served as a security guard at the InterContinental Hotel. It was during this time that Combs allegedly assaulted Ventura on March 5, 2016. In her opening statement, Geragos described the surveillance footage of the attack, initially released by CNN in May 2024, as strong evidence of domestic violence. However, he clarified that it was not primarily related to claims of sex trafficking, but rather stemmed from infidelity found on a cell phone.

On May 12th, Florez stated that he witnessed signs of a dispute that occurred on the day in question. Moreover, Combs allegedly gave Florez a pile of cash as an incentive for ignoring the incident.

In the heat of questioning, I couldn’t help but feel the adrenaline pumping as I declared with unwavering conviction that I took Combs’ gesture as a clear attempt at bribery – a hundred percent certainty echoing in my words.

During her initial remarks, defense lawyer Teny Geragos argued that the prosecution was attempting to reframe consensual sexual activity as a case of sex trafficking. However, she asserted confidently, this strategy would ultimately fail.

“Sean Combs is a complicated man,” she said, “but this is not a complicated case.”

Geragos stated that the matter at hand concerns Sean Combs’ intimate, personal aspects of his life, which hold no relevance to his legitimate business endeavors.

She informed the court that her client exhibited aggressive behavior, used drugs, and had anger management problems. However, it’s important to note that he isn’t on trial for being rude or unpleasant. The charges do not involve him being unkind or obnoxious.

Geragos stated, ‘The evidence presented will reveal an imperfect person, yet it won’t demonstrate someone involved in racketeering, sex trafficking, or transporting for prostitution.’

Attorney Emily Johnson claimed that Combs allegedly orchestrated an extensive team of employees to perform illicit activities, such as lengthy “freak offs,” as reported by journalists from NBC News who were present in the courtroom, based on the federal indictment.

She informed the court that at times he referred to himself as a monarch and demanded special treatment to fulfill his every whim. Moreover, she claimed that through his businesses, he exerted control over women, compelling them to engage in sexual acts with male escorts while he observed, and ensured that he always received everything desired by him and his inner circle.

Johnson kicked off her presentation to the jury by painting Combs as an extraordinarily influential figure who oversaw a criminal organization.

In reference to an instance he claimed was criminal, Johnson informed the jury that the founder of Bad Boys Records, Combs, was “stalking” Ventura one evening following the news of her romantic involvement with someone else. According to Johnson, Combs is said to have brutally assaulted her, kicking her in the back and tossing her around carelessly, similar to a piece of cloth.

The prosecutor alleged that Combs’ inner circle covered up “crime after crime.”

The presiding judge, Arun Subramanian, expressed his belief that the trial might wrap up by the Fourth of July. He added that he anticipates it to be over by then, yet acknowledged that it could extend beyond this date, though he doesn’t foresee it doing so excessively.
