Xbox Leak Teases Major Game Announcements at Upcoming Showcase

It’s possible that Xbox is gearing up to unveil follow-ups for some of its top-selling games. Xbox has been a dominant force in the gaming industry since its debut in the early 2000s, outpacing other companies due to its ownership by Microsoft, one of the world’s leading and most prosperous firms with an abundance of resources. Following a somewhat underwhelming generation featuring the Xbox One, where they struggled to consistently deliver high-quality exclusives that could rival PlayStation, they started acquiring studios such as Activision and Zenimax, which control game developers like Bethesda and Arkane.

As a gamer, I’ve found investing in Xbox to be a goldmine, delivering some truly outstanding exclusive games like “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” and the upcoming first-person shooter, “Doom: The Dark Ages.” Of course, these games aren’t just limited to Xbox; they’re also gracing PlayStation with timeless classics such as “Gears of War.” This is a new era for Xbox, something unimaginable just a decade back. The landscape has drastically changed, and now Xbox boasts an impressive collection of games and studios that leave me in awe. It seems like they’re embracing this change and expanding their horizons even further.

New Wolfenstein and Dishonored Games May Be Announced at Xbox Showcase

As Xbox’s summer showcase nears in less than a month, fans can’t help but wonder about potential announcements at the event. Could we see a fresh installment of Halo or perhaps a renewed look at Perfect Dark? The mystery remains, but recent leaks have added fuel to the speculation. ZeniMax has recently filed new trademarks for Dishonored, Wolfenstein, Deathloop, and Quake before Xbox’s summer showcase. This timing raises suspicions, particularly since there hasn’t been any such activity from the company since last August.

ZeniMax Media filed new trademarks on May 6 for Wolfenstein, Deathloop, Quake, and Dishonored

Arkane Lyon, known for creating Dishonored and Deathloop, is now focusing on Marvel’s Blade, a project that usually involves the entire team. It’s unlikely there’s another team at the studio working on two separate games. Fans have been eagerly waiting for a new Dishonored for quite some time, so this trademark news stirs up excitement. Since these franchises are now under Microsoft’s ownership, it’s possible other studios within the Xbox family could be developing them, but that seems less probable. The distinctive visions behind these games make it hard to imagine someone else taking over for a sequel. Sequels for broader franchises like Halo, with multiple directions for development, seem more fitting.

Due to the success of “Wolfenstein: The New Colossus” in 2017 and the mixed reactions to “Wolfenstein: Youngblood,” there’s a high anticipation for another installment of Wolfenstein. It’s speculated that MachineGames might be developing “Wolfenstein 3” alongside their work on Indiana Jones, though this is only conjecture. The company may be securing the rights to these franchises through trademark updates, but it seems unlikely they would release updates for all four at once.

Which of these franchises do you want to see return? Let me know in the comments.
