Nintendo Quietly Announces Helpful New Switch 2 Feature Ahead of Release

Nintendo recently subtly unveiled an additional feature for the upcoming Switch 2 that wasn’t present in the initial Switch model. With the Switch 2 set to hit stores in just under a month, most of its key features have already been disclosed by Nintendo. This includes details about its specifications, size, improved Joy-Cons, and modifications to its dock. Now, with the launch rapidly approaching, Nintendo has unveiled one more aspect of the Switch 2 that many users are likely to appreciate.

On the Nintendo Today app, Nintendo announced that the upcoming Switch 2 model will include a “Security Lock” function. This simple yet effective feature enables Switch 2 users to establish a personal PIN code for console access. Similar to mobile phones and tablets, this security measure was absent from the original Switch. Now, the Switch 2’s settings menu includes an option for users to activate or deactivate this lock at their convenience.

Including a Security Lock in the Switch 2 may not be the deciding factor for most buyers, but it certainly adds a convenient feature. It’s particularly beneficial for families who might share the device, as it allows parents to control access and prevent young users from exploring content without supervision.

It’s worth noting that the anticipated launch date for the Nintendo Switch 2 is swiftly approaching, specifically on June 5th. The cost of this new console will be $449.99, and there are also bundles available for $499.99 which include the game “Mario Kart World” as well.
