Storyline: A genius detective, who also happens to struggle with OCD, is drawn back into service to unravel the mystery surrounding his fiancée’s daughter Molly, a budding journalist on the verge of marriage.

Mr. Monk’s Last Case unfolds as Adrian (Shalhoub) readies for Molly’s (McGee) wedding, but then Covid intervenes, dragging him into a fresh wave of predicaments. In the meantime, Natalie (Howard) and Randy (Gray-Stanford) make a comeback for the wedding, which leaves Adrian less than thrilled about their departure.

On Molly’s wedding eve, tragedy strikes as Griffin (Scott), her fiancé, meets an untimely end during a bungee jump accident. Adrian is tasked with unraveling the mystery behind his death and investigating the suspicious circumstances surrounding it. This case has intricate ties to Rick Eden (Purefoy), the wealthiest man in town. Adrian takes up this challenge in order to fulfill Trudy’s (Hardin) daughter’s dying wish.

Verdict on Mr. Monk’s Last Case

In this new installment of the film, our cherished detective is drawn into another mystery. This time, it’s a matter close to home as his stepdaughter requires his assistance in unraveling the death of her fiancé. Yet, due to the ongoing pandemic, he has reverted to old habits, and he must conquer his own struggles to crack this case open.

Best Parts

It’s wonderful to have the familiar faces back, discovering the turns their lives have taken. The storyline revolves around Molly mourning the loss of someone dear, much like how Adrian was affected by Trudy’s passing, spurring him on to resume his crime-solving endeavors.

Worst Parts

In some instances, the humor falls flat, and I encounter one of my main story annoyances: the inclusion of COVID-19 as a storyline element. This narrative direction often fails to provide a substantial list of potential suspects and tends to focus more on finding evidence before the deadline arrives.

Final Thoughts –Mr. Monk’s Last Case is a welcome return to our favourite detective.
