The Steam Deck has secretly boosted the performance of Satisfactory on Steam. While its status hasn’t officially changed yet from “Verified” to “Playable” on Steam Deck, the game has received a significant upgrade in that area. Coffee Stain Studios recently rolled out the Satisfactory 1.1 Experimental Update v1.1.0.4, and it brings numerous improvements, particularly for users of the Steam Deck.
Initially, the update enhances the Steam Deck usage by setting Controller as the default option when launching from a Steam Deck. This change is relatively minor compared to the second one. The significant improvement is that Coffee Stain Studios has switched the default Steam controller setup to Gamepad with Camera controls instead of Mouse and Keyboard.
If you’ve customized your controller settings before and are encountering problems or wish to experiment with the standard controls, you’ll need to adjust your setup back to the default configuration, which is the Gamepad with Camera Controls layout.
It’s unclear when the Steam game will officially be compatible with Steam Deck, but two recent enhancements likely bring us closer to that goal. For now, the game functions on Steam Deck, labeled as “Playable.” Overall, it operates relatively smoothly on Steam Deck, but there may be occasional glitches and it needs some user adjustments to run optimally.
The section about the Steam Deck in these patch notes appears towards the bottom, suggesting that its development might not be a top priority. This could be due to less demand for this game on the Steam Deck compared to other platforms, making it less ideal for play on this device than more conventional methods.
