Sidney Raz Claps Back at Critics Over Cancer Diagnosis Reveal

Sidney Raz is responding to criticism.

Sidney Raskind, the well-known influencer, openly discussed the criticism he allegedly faced from followers who claimed he was capitalizing on his health struggle following his announcement of a stomach cancer diagnosis a month ago.

Sidney expressed during a conversation with Net Influencer (on May 12), “If I let down my family, I can let down online viewers as well.

The 36-year-old, who became famous on social media for sharing humorous life-hack videos, mentioned that he chose to share his cancer diagnosis to expand his online reach and have more personal control over his story by telling it directly.

Sidney expressed that during this period, I had a strong sense of total control and ownership over the situation. It was as if it belonged solely to me, and nobody could dictate my actions or decisions.

More recently, he directly addressed his critics by reaffirming his stance on disclosing his diagnosis publicly via social media.

In a video posted on Instagram on April 16, Sidney stated, “I’ve been receiving messages regarding monetizing my cancer experience, and I wholeheartedly agree with you, it’s absolutely correct – this is my story to share.

He went on to say, “This is a unique opportunity for me to express something in a manner that I haven’t done before. I am determined to champion the cause of research, to gather funds, and to assist my loved ones in every possible way.

Around a month ago, Sidney made his diagnosis public, sharing that during genetic testing, doctors found he had stomach cancer. This test was prompted by the tragic loss of their daughter in utero at 26 weeks due to Holoprosencephaly, a condition which hinders brain development fully.

Sidney stated in a video shared on TikTok on April 5, ‘My daughter’s genetic makeup was the one factor that miraculously saved my life,’ he continued, ‘Now we have a way to move forward.’

The content creator pointed out that although his wife showed no unusual conditions related to their late daughter’s unusual birth defect, he discovered the same deletion in the gene CTNNA1 that affected their child.

Sidney mentioned that due to a particular deletion, there’s been an increased link with certain types of cancer, particularly stomach cancer in recent times. Unfortunately, he recently underwent an endoscopy and was just informed that he has indeed developed stomach cancer.

He also pondered his instinct to share the news with so many people online.

Sidney admitted, ‘I’m not sure what drives me to share this online, but I believe it’s due to my affection for the community and all the positive experiences I’ve had on the internet. At the same time, I want to convince myself that this is likely the best outcome I could have imagined.’

Initially, he mentioned that his diagnosis might require the removal of his stomach. However, he later disclosed that the scheduled surgery was put on hold instead.

He mentioned later in April that since the positive results of last week’s ultrasound, he has had numerous discussions about delaying his surgery. Given how well the ultrasound came out, there was no immediate necessity to remove his stomach. To be honest, him and his family are not mentally, physically, emotionally, or nutritionally prepared yet.
