Jamie Lee Curtis Reveals the Plastic Surgery Decision She Can’t Take Back From Age 25

Jamie Lee Curtis isn’t claiming to be perfect.

In the movie “Freaky Friday,” an actress opened up about a remark from a cinematographer during the filming of her 1985 production, “Perfect” featuring John Travolta, which ultimately led her to opt for cosmetic surgery.

In a 60 Minutes interview on May 11, Jamie Lee recounted, “He said something like, ‘Nah, I’m not filming her today. Her eyes look tired.’ At 25, it was incredibly mortifying for him to say that. As soon as the movie ended, I went ahead and had some cosmetic surgery.

When inquired about the recent event, I shared that things didn’t go as planned. At this stage of life, I believe it’s essential to make decisions that align with our long-term goals, and unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here. Instantly after making that choice, I felt a pang of regret, and over time, those sentiments have lingered subtly.

The Oscar winner added that she has “way” more remorse for her decision now.

Due to Jamie Lee’s statement, it appears she has taken on a public role to encourage women by saying “you’re beautiful just as you are,” and her actions in question might not have been the best.

Previously, she openly shared that Gordon Willis, a renowned cinematographer nominated for Oscars (who passed away in 2014), was responsible for a hurtful remark which marked the onset of her battle with addiction.

Following the movie, she shared with The New Yorker in 2019 that she underwent an eye procedure. It was around this time that she discovered Vicodin, which marked the start of her struggle with addiction.

The actress from “Everything Everywhere All At Once” shared with 60 Minutes that she has been sober for 26 years, and went on to discuss her past struggles with substance abuse.

She confessed that she grew fond of using opiates in the comfort of a warm bath, taking small amounts and always being careful not to overdo it or make a scene. However, it did become an addiction for her.

In addition, Jamie Lee drew focus towards the memorable sequence in the movie Perfect, where she instructs a workout session dressed in a leotard.

She commented, “Indeed, I wear the leotard quite well.” She added humorously, “I’ve seen so many photos of myself in it that I sometimes have to double-take and ask, ‘Is that me?’

As a deeply concerned parent and ardent advocate for self-love, I fervently hope my children never find themselves in a place where they feel compelled to alter their bodies drastically in pursuit of an unrealistic ideal of thinness. While I understand some cosmetic procedures like a nose job or breast augmentation can be personal choices, the relentless pursuit of skinny ideals, in my view, is a sign of mental distress. This sentiment comes from a place of deep respect for anyone grappling with these issues.

In April 2024, Gypsy underwent both a rhinoplasty and septoplasty, which is commonly known as a nose job. This procedure took place three months after she was freed from prison, where she had spent seven years for her part in the murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.

She admitted that she wasn’t always of sound mind during these visits, as she would consume marijuana and alcohol before going to the clinic.

Speaking personally, I’d rephrase it as follows: “I noted that everything has been cleared away. In an interview with People back in 2007, the actress stated that correcting her deviated septum was the best decision she ever made.
