The first season of “Jujutsu Kaisen” established its presence, but it was the second season that really skyrocketed the show’s fame, especially with the eagerly awaited Shibuya Arc that sent the series’ popularity soaring. Not only did the Shibuya Arc feature numerous thrilling battles, but Season 2 of “Jujutsu Kaisen” also offered viewers a peek into Gojo’s youth, unveiling an entirely new aspect of his character that was previously unknown. Coming up, fans will have the chance to see this undervalued arc from Season 2 on the big screen through the Hidden Inventory Arc compilation film. Recently, the voice actor for Gojo shared in a new interview his favorite scene from Season 2 of “Jujutsu Kaisen”, and it might catch fans off guard.
In a recent interview on the official website of the anime series “Jujutsu Kaisen”, Yuichi Nakamura, the Japanese voice actor for Gojo, was questioned about which scene from the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc had the most impact on him. Remarkably, Nakamura picked the encounter between Gojo and Geto in Shinjuku as the one that left the deepest impression. When asked why he chose this specific scene, Nakamura mentioned that it significantly influenced his perception of Gojo’s character and his portrayal of Gojo during that scene.
Yuichi Nakamura Reveals the Scene That Changes His Understanding of Gojo Forever
From the beginning, the character of Gojo has been portrayed as a calm, self-assured, and aloof teacher, standing out among the strongest sorcerers in Jujutsu Society for his lack of emotional attachment or personal relationships. However, during the Hidden Inventory Arc, Gojo’s past connection with Geto is unveiled, causing fans to rethink their perceptions of him. Interestingly, even Yuichi Nakamura, who voices Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen, initially believed that Gojo was not someone who formed close relationships. During the recording of the confrontation between Gojo and Geto in Season 2, Nakamura shared that he approached the scene thinking each word spoken by Gojo was simply a straightforward expression of his feelings, such as “I don’t understand what you did.” This scene was particularly memorable for Nakamura because it showed a different side of Gojo, one that allowed him to connect with others on a deeper level.
Initially, Nakamura appeared distant during the confrontation scene, but upon reflection, he explained that his initial approach was altered. He was instructed to portray a more vulnerable Gojo, which allowed viewers to understand Geto’s feelings better. Nakamura further noted that this change in direction at the beginning of the conversation made a significant impact on him during the test recording.
This emotional scene from Shibuya Arc in Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen is often referred to as one of the most poignant moments due to the unexpected display of emotion by Gojo, which until then had remained hidden. Even the voice actor for Gojo, Nakamura, was taken aback by this emotional vulnerability shown by Gojo, and it ended up being a key factor in Pseudo-Geto’s plan to imprison him in the Prison Realm. It remains uncertain whether fans will witness such emotion from Gojo again until perhaps the final arc of Jujutsu Kaisen; however, viewers can anticipate experiencing more heartache as they delve into the tragic past shared by Gojo and Geto on the big screen.
On July 16, 2025, “Jujutsu Kaisen: Secret Stash / Early Demise – The Film” will be showing in cinemas all over North America.
