AEW Reveals Epic Intergender Anarchy in the Arena Match

Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite provided a pulse-pounding experience, wrapping up Beach Break with a tantalizing sneak peek of what could be one of the most exhilarating Anarchy in the Arena matches yet. The main event on Dynamite featured the much-anticipated Steel Cage match for the AEW World Championship between Jon Moxley and Samoa Joe, but by the end, several prominent figures from AEW joined the fray. Despite Moxley retaining his title, it was Swerve Strickland who proposed an intergender Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing, challenging Moxley’s group, The Elite, and an unforeseen New Japan pro wrestler.

In typical fashion for a contest featuring Jon Moxley, Samoa Joe, and a steel enclosure, the match was intense from the start and featured numerous grueling instances. Samoa Joe aimed to inflict pain on Moxley through cage slams, but Moxley retaliated with cage slams of his own and hard blows, leading to both combatants bleeding rather swiftly.

As Joe sustained a wound, it was Moxley who appeared badly hurt, donning a red mask. Matters worsened when Joe trapped him within his grip, prompting Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta to rush towards the enclosure to aid Moxley. However, Willow Nightingale and Powerhouse Hobbs intervened on Joe’s behalf, yanking Claudio and Wheeler off the cage and flinging them onto the ground.

It was at that point when an enigmatic figure cloaked in mystery appeared, revealing himself to be none other than Gabe Kidd from New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He handed the briefcase into the cage to Moxley, who subsequently used it to strike Joe on the head, thus retaining his Championship. Yet, the turmoil did not subside there; The Elite made their entrance, raising the cage and allowing Marina Shafir and Kidd to join in the assault on Joe.

In this instance, Kenny Omega sprinted in, knocking over Yuta en route to the ring. However, he soon found himself overwhelmed, and the Young Bucks lowered the cage to isolate him. The Bucks targeted Joe while others focused on Omega, but Swerve unexpectedly emerged, scaling the cage and diving into the ring, taking out numerous competitors. The Bucks hoisted the cage again, just as Hobbs and Willow re-entered the fray, driving everyone away. As they retreated to the audience, Strickland proposed an Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing, but this time, it will deviate from previous contests.

In most Anarchy in the Arena battles, it’s usually a fight between 5 versus 5 or 4 versus 4 teams. However, this particular match might see an unusual lineup of 7 versus 7. As of now, the teams are The Elite, Death Riders, and Gabe Kidd against Swerve, Joe, Willow, Hobbs, and Omega. This isn’t yet a 7 vs 5 match. If history repeats itself, we might witness another 5 versus 5 battle with some members of the Death Riders sitting out. But there’s also a possibility that this could be the first ever 7 on 7 match in this type of contest. In such a case, Joe’s team would need two more members to even things out. This gap can easily be filled if The Ops group, consisting of Hook and Katsuyori Shibata, decides to join the fray.

For the first time in Anarch in the Arena history, this event will showcase an intergender match, with Willow fighting alongside Joe’s team, while Marina is on Moxley’s side. The sheer skill of these athletes promises an extraordinary spectacle. The lineup includes powerhouses like Joe, Swerve, Omega, Willow, and Hobbs, which would be a sight to behold even without opposition. But this team will square off against AEW’s most formidable villain groups and a renowned New Japan star, making it an unparalleled showdown.

On May 25th, the event AEW: Double or Nothing will commence in Glendale, Arizona. The event will start at 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
