Intel unveiled its Arc Battlemage desktop graphics cards in December 2024, but since they hit the market, the B580 and B570 models have rarely been available for purchase due to high demand.
Why are they so popular? It comes down to price and performance.
The Arc B580 GPU boasting 12GB of VRAM was initially priced at $249, while its counterpart Arc B570 with 10GB was introduced at $219. Despite demand and reselling pushing prices higher, they continue to offer the best value currently available.
Intel offers two remarkable mid-range graphics processors that can comfortably support high-definition 1440p gaming, standing out in a market where many options are pricier AMD RDNA 4 and NVIDIA RTX 50-series GPUs.
An Intel Battlemage B770 GPU could be on the way
At Computex 2025, Intel is expected to unveil their latest Arc PRO A60 GPU featuring 24GB of VRAM, and there might be additional details to come.
Based on some chatter on social media from Intel’s team, it appears quite probable that they will be releasing an Arc B770 graphics card in the near future.
It appears that Intel may be planning to broaden its Battlemage series, given the impressive response to the first two releases. However, an official announcement has yet to be made.
According to Videocardz’s reports, it appears that Intel might be developing two different GPU chips. The smaller one, known as BMG-G21, can currently be found in B570 and B580 boards. Meanwhile, the larger BMG-G31 chip is yet to find its designated place.
That larger GPU chip could be what’s coming to the Arc B770, if it’s indeed real.
If this is the case, the release of NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 on May 19 and AMD’s anticipated RX 9060 XT unveiling at Computex might not be a top priority for budget-minded PC gamers right away.
Why Intel’s rumored Arc B770 is worth waiting for

Compared to Intel’s Battlemage series, specifically the Arc B580, it performs quite similarly to the RTX 4060 in terms of 1080p and 1440p gaming, but at a more affordable cost.
12 GB of VRAM is equally important, as it’s been demonstrated that 8 GB of VRAM, such as what’s found in the RTX 4060, often faces challenges in running many current video games smoothly.
NVIDIA’s upcoming $299 RTX 5060 is already raising eyebrows for some of the same reasons.
1. Initially, there will be no reviews available for the launch of NVIDIA’s GPU because they haven’t released a suitable driver prior to the release date.
2. The 8GB VRAM limitation in this new NVIDIA product is cause for concern.
Instead of waiting to ensure the launch drivers are perfect, NVIDIA might also be seeking to dodge any potential unfavorable reviews from PC enthusiasts prior to them purchasing the graphics card.
According to numerous critics, the 8GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti has received criticism for its VRAM limitation, and it’s hard for me to imagine this issue being addressed in the 8GB RTX 5060.
Absolutely, NVIDIA’s DLSS 4 featuring Multi Frame Generation is truly remarkable technology, and it’s a significant factor contributing to the widespread popularity of the RTX 50-series GPUs. We’ll find out how the RTX 5060 model handles it soon.
Despite limited information thus far about the speculated Intel Arc B770, it seems likely that it will aim for a competitive spot against graphics cards like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 and potentially even the RTX 5060 Ti.
Should Intel persist in its Battlemage strategy, it’s possible that the B770 might debut with a generous amount of VRAM (16GB or more). This would provide ample power for 1440p gaming and come at a more budget-friendly cost. However, these are mere predictions at this stage.
It’s yet unclear where the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT stands in the scheme of things, however, it’s advisable not to make a hasty purchase of the Nvidia RTX 5060 on its release date.
Let’s hold off on our purchase until we can evaluate the mid-range options from both Intel and AMD, so we can make an informed decision later.
To put it another way, given the state of the GPU market right now with its sky-high demand and scarce supply, people are forced to make hasty choices due to the shortage of options available.
