Legendary game designer Hideo Kojima, who has now crossed the milestone of 60 years, has been contemplating his future more deeply following a health scare during the pandemic.
Even as he works on upcoming games such as “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” he is equally conscious about the long-term future of his studio once he is no longer present.
In his recent interview with Edge Magazine, as reported by VGC, he expressed concern about the future of Kojima Productions once he’s no longer there. He doesn’t want them to merely handle their current intellectual properties without any creative evolution.
He provided an USB stick to his assistant, and it seems this device holds all of his concepts much like a last will and testament. This way, if anything happens to him, the team might be able to carry on working based on these ideas instead of being left without any direction.
Besides some other ventures, Kojima is additionally engrossed in developing the forthcoming action-spy game Physint. It’s rumored that he chose to work on this project following his realization that many fans were yearning for something similar to his Metal Gear Solid series.
At one stage, Kojima pondered over the possibility of directing a film; however, following discussions with filmmakers Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn, he chose instead to reevaluate his commitments, with their advice being for him to continue working in the gaming industry.
