The creator behind Rocket Boy Studios has unveiled a fresh trailer for their upcoming third-person action title, MindsEye. This sneak peek isn’t extensive but serves as a tantalizing taste of what could evolve into a longer gameplay demonstration. In this teaser, we catch glimpses of the on-foot combat sequences, concluding just as it seems to morph into what appears to be a high-speed chase involving vehicles. Have a look at it below.
Based on the trailer, MindsEye appears to follow conventional third-person action gameplay, where the main character, Jacob Diaz, utilizes an assortment of weapons such as a shotgun, pistol, and even a submachine gun to combat enemies. What sets this game apart is the emphasis on environmental interaction; players must be vigilant for explosive barrels that can help take down tougher foes more efficiently, and always aware of potential cover to seek refuge when needed.
In the trailer’s narrative, we join the action already in progress, where it appears Jacob is tracking two hackers. However, some adversaries manage to elude him, forcing him to jump into a vehicle in hot pursuit. Over the radio, a voice urges Jacob to locate the second hacker as soon as possible once he catches up with the first one.
Although we’ve only seen brief snippets of the racing gameplay, it seems to align with Adam Whiting’s statements about creating an intense sensation that players are always teetering on the brink of losing control. In April, Whiting discussed the design of the game’s camera system, which aims to replicate classic car chase scenes. For instance, during high-speed chases, the camera may break away as you navigate corners quickly, giving the impression that you’re precariously close to losing control, much like being in a Fast & Furious movie.
The camera could make the game thrilling for players, but Whiting clarified that they would still retain fine-tuned command over its operation. Moreover, during gameplay, players will have the ability to execute more intricate maneuvers, such as coordinating the accelerator, brakes, and handbrake simultaneously to maintain vehicle control.
Prior to the game’s launch, some gameplay clips were accidentally leaked this month. These sneak peeks originated from a streamer who received the footage and chose to react to it during a live broadcast, disregarding the fact that it wasn’t intended for public viewing. The leaked material primarily consisted of on-foot combat scenes, along with scenes featuring a fast-paced car chase.
MindsEye is being prepared for launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a scheduled release date of June 10th. The game, priced at $59.99, can now be pre-ordered through your preferred digital store.
