Marvel’s Alien vs. Avengers Finale Teases Epic Showdown and Shocking Deaths

The fierce battle between Earth’s Superior Heroes and Xenomorphs is almost reaching its climax. With Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox, Marvel Comics could now publish comics derived from the studio’s renowned collection of titles, such as Aliens and Predator. The tales based on these franchises have primarily been individual encounters, like the upcoming Predator vs. Spider-Man, but Aliens vs. Avengers has successfully integrated the entire Marvel Universe. Penned by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Esad Ribic, this series premiered in 2024, and after some delays, is almost ready to conclude. The final installment won’t be released until summer, but sneak peeks show how one of the Avengers will reappear to restore balance against the relentless Aliens.

Get a sneak peek at issue #4 of “Aliens Vs. Avengers,” penned by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Esad Ribic. Despite being just three pages long, this preview showcases some major characters from the series. In it, Mister Sinister is seen surrounded by a horde of Xenomorphs. At first, it seems as if Sinister basks in the limelight, but then the Xenomorphs lift him aloft. Following this, Black Panther, his son Azari, and the Hatut Zeraze arrive from a spaceship to tackle some Xenomorphs. The final page presents a confrontation between a red Xenomorph and T’Challa, Azari, and an injured Captain Marvel, who takes flight as shots are fired down from the sky.

As a film enthusiast, let me share my thoughts on the thrilling rollercoaster ride that is “Aliens Vs. Avengers”. The initial episode saw the heartbreaking demise of Valeria Richards and Miles Morales donning a symbiote/Xenomorph suit. Subsequent issues unfolded with the Avengers fleeing Earth to evade Xenomorphs, finding sanctuary among the X-Men on Mars. A shocking revelation emerged that Mister Sinister had deceived the X-Men, using Xenomorphs for his sinister experiments. This betrayal ultimately led to Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, meeting an untimely end.

The account of Aliens vs. Avengers #4 goes as follows: Our heroic Earth-dwellers, driven by the need to protect humanity from the Xenomorph menace, have departed their home planet. Their destination? Mars, currently a sanctuary for the X-Men. However, the devious schemes of Mister Sinister could lead to their demise… Don’t forget to catch the EPIC FINALE of Hickman and Ribic’s SPECTACULAR CROSSOVER MASTERPIECE!

For the entirety of my time at Marvel, I’ve only worked on licensed properties that weren’t related to superheroes. When this opportunity came up about two years ago, I was really excited to take it. I’m a big fan of the Aliens universe and its mythology, and the way everything is designed always sparks my creativity. It was challenging to merge these two elements, but I believe Esad and I have found a solution that appeals to fans of both franchises.

One fascinating aspect of this project is that we’ve managed to creatively blend elements of the ‘Avengers’ and ‘Aliens’, making one set look more like Marvel superheroes and the other, extraterrestrial. I believe fans will be taken aback by how seamlessly these elements integrate. It’s turned out to be a perfect match, much like peanut butter and chocolate.

Following in the footsteps of the Alien series comes a fresh TV show titled “Alien: Earth” on FX. This eight-episode production is under the creative direction of Noah Hawley (known for his work on “Fargo” and “Legion”). Unlike its predecessors, this installment brings the horrifying alien species straight to Earth, with the narrative unfolding in the year 2120, a mere two years before the ill-fated journey of the Nostromo spaceship from the 1979 Alien movie. Catch “Alien: Earth” on FX starting Tuesday, August 12th.
