The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has officially kicked off the journey towards Money in the Bank, starting tonight’s SmackDown. They held the initial qualifying bouts for both men’s and women’s Money in the Bank contests. In the Women’s contest, Chelsea Green, Alexa Bliss, and Michin competed, while the Men’s match featured Rey Fenix, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa. Each competitor will be the first to secure a place in the Money in the Bank matches. I believe WWE made the right decisions, and while it might seem unexpected for the second match specifically, both Alexa Bliss and Solo Sikoa have the potential to make those contests truly spectacular.
Women’s Money in the Bank Qualifier
First off, we begin with the Women’s Qualifier, where Michin, Green, and Bliss competed. Green was eliminated swiftly by Michin, followed by a friendly slap (high five) between Michin and Bliss. They then squared off against each other. The match ended in a draw, but Bliss accidentally tripped Green as she entered the ring, making it Bliss versus Michin once more. Both almost scored near falls on one another. Green, watching from the sidelines, hurled insults at them both, which led to Michin and Bliss turning against Green, pushing her to the floor. Later on, Green exacted her revenge when both Michin and Bliss were vying for their next attack. In the end, Green retaliated by slamming Bliss and Michin into the barriers to regain momentum.
In the wrestling arena, Green made an attempt to secure a hold on Bliss, yet Bliss managed to escape by kicking free. Green continued to be persistent, shoving Bliss into the turnbuckle and subsequently striking her head against it before attempting another pin. However, Bliss once again evaded this maneuver, prompting Green to toss her out of the ring in triumph. Green’s enthusiasm even led Wade Barrett to pledge allegiance to him. Green then hurled Bliss into the barricade and, with Michin already down on the floor, rolled her back into the ring before raining blows upon her back. Bliss managed to regain some momentum but was quickly slammed onto the mat. Green continued her assault, only for Bliss to retaliate with a powerful slam, though Green managed to get back in the game and executed several suplexes on Green. Green tried to counter but ended up being hit by a powerbomb, yet Bliss failed to keep Green down for the count as she had help from someone else.
In this intense wrestling match, Bliss and Michin clashed, with Michin eventually taking control. Michin followed by sending Green into the same corner as Bliss for a powerful cannonball maneuver. Michin managed to pin Bliss, but she quickly regained consciousness and did the same to Green. Both Green and Bliss missed their next moves, leading to a chaotic sequence where everyone fell to the mat.
Bliss recovered and struck Green several times before being hit by a dropkick from Michin. Michin attempted a finishing move on Green, but Bliss intervened, preventing the pin. Bliss then overpowered Michin with a DDT. She positioned Michin for another attack, but Green interrupted and threw Bliss out of the ring.
Green followed up with a finishing move, but Bliss managed to prevent the pin. In an unexpected turn, Bliss retaliated with Sister Abigail on Green, securing the pin and winning the match.
Men’s Money in the Bank Qualifier
In the next round of the Money in the Bank qualifier, we saw a clash between Solo Sikoa, Rey Fenix, and Jimmy Uso. Sikoa immediately took action, targeting Fenix before attempting to form an alliance with Jimmy. However, Jimmy turned against Sikoa, joining forces with Fenix to toss Sikoa out of the ring and onto the floor. Fenix attempted a quick pin, but Jimmy retaliated with a strong chop. Fenix recovered and sent Uso crashing to the mat before unleashing his own barrage of chops. The two superstars engaged in a brutal brawl that culminated with Fenix executing his signature springboard dropkick – always an exciting sight to behold. Uso responded with more chops, but seemed to be favoring his hand slightly. Sikoa re-entered the match, adding another layer of intensity to the fierce exchange between Fenix and Uso.
In this action-packed sequence, Sikoa forcefully thrust Uso onto the commentary desk with a powerful slam. However, Fenix was poised, retaliating with a swift kick to Sikoa’s face. Fenix ascended to the top rope, executing a daring maneuver that sent him crashing into both Uso and Sikoa on the ring’s edge. Jimmy seemed disoriented, allowing Sikoa to deliver a high-flying Spinning Solo. In a swift move, Sikoa propelled Jimmy off the ring apron, sending him tumbling onto the commentary desk. Despite his efforts, Sikoa could only manage to lay Uso flat on the table, which held firm against the impact.
Initially, Sikoa dominated with a senton move towards Fenix, but Uso quickly got back into the action, only to be knocked down moments later. Sikoa taunted the audience before re-entering the ring against Fenix, and another kick to Uso’s head forced him out of contention. Sikoa attempted a pin on Fenix, but he managed to kick out. Remarkably, Uso intervened to save Fenix from an attack, and they collaborated to overpower Sikoa, pushing him into the ring post. Next, it was Fenix’s turn to take charge, and surprisingly, he even pinned Sikoa for a three count, but unfortunately, the referee was focusing on Jimmy Uso and failed to notice it.
After battling back, Sikoa managed to take out both Uso and Fenix, placing himself at an advantage for victory. However, things turned when Sikoa attempted a Spike move on Fenix, who retaliated with a counterattack. Uso followed up with a superkick that left Sikoa reeling. The crowd began to rally behind Fenix, and after a dropkick from Fenix and a spear from Uso, Fenix narrowly avoided elimination. A brief intervention by Jacob Fatu ended in his knockout at the hands of Uso, leaving an opening for Sikoa to deliver a final blow to Uso. Despite being countered by Fenix, Sikoa recovered with a Spike and claimed victory, qualifying for Money in the Bank.
Final Verdict
In this scenario, it seems appropriate to rephrase as follows: Bliss was widely anticipated to emerge victorious in the match, and there has been a surge of interest from fans both online and offline for weeks. Therefore, awarding her the win appeared fitting. This decision not only ensures she remains on WWE TV prior to the event, but also positions her as a strong contender for the briefcase. Such an outcome would likely resonate with the fans.
In terms of Sikoa, although Fenix was widely admired, Sikoa urgently required a victory to reestablish himself as a genuine threat once more, and this proved beneficial for him. To be fair, Jacob and JC provided assistance, but they didn’t play significant roles in the match, allowing Sikoa to appear robust. Moreover, Fenix was portrayed as powerful due to his numerical advantage and pinning Sikoa. However, it’s also possible that Fenix will make an appearance in a final qualifier, giving him another chance.
