June 1: Liam Neeson’s Action Films and Critically Acclaimed Thriller Drop Free on Tubi

looks like June 1st promises an incredibly thrilling day for fans, as Tubi is set to augment their free streaming library with four action-packed movies starring Liam Neeson.

Beginning June 1st, Tubi will offer Liam Neeson enthusiasts a chance to stream Taken 1, 2, 3, and A Walk Among the Tombstones at no cost. These action-packed, suspenseful films showcase Neeson’s prime acting prowess, significantly contributing to his rise as one of the leading action stars. The series, conceived by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, revolves around Bryan Mills, a former CIA agent whose life is drastically altered when his 17-year-old daughter gets kidnapped in France. In response, Mills embarks on a global pursuit of the kidnappers to exact revenge in this high-speed thriller.

After the debut of Taken in 2008, the movie garnered a mix of critic reviews but proved to be a massive box office hit, earning $226 million on a budget of just $25 million. This blockbuster film initiated the Taken series, with Taken 2 arriving in 2012 as its sequel. In this installment, Liam Neeson reprised his role as Bryan Mills; however, unlike the original, it was Mills himself who got kidnapped in the sequel, along with his ex-wife, by the vengeful father of one of the men he had pursued during his mission to save his daughter in France.

In a sequel titled “Taken 2“, Liam Neeson’s character found even greater financial success, raking in over $376 million globally, yet faced criticism from critics. Despite this, a third installment, “Taken 3“, was released in 2015. In this final movie of the trilogy, Neeson’s character is wrongly accused of murder and must employ his unique abilities to clear his name while tracking down the real offender. Forest Whitaker, Maggie Grace, and other stars joined Neeson in this film. Just like its predecessors, it garnered substantial box office earnings ($326 million), but fell short in impressing critics who deemed it less imaginative than earlier films in the series.

A Walk Among the Tombstones is One of Neeson’s Most Critically Acclaimed Action Roles

In contrast, although the “Taken” trilogy brought in substantial profits, it wasn’t particularly praised by critics. However, another action-packed movie of Liam Neeson, titled “A Walk Among the Tombstones“, was more favorably received. This film features Neeson as NYPD Detective Matthew Scudder, who is hired by a drug lord to investigate the kidnapping and murder of his wife. The cast includes Dan Stevens from “Beauty and the Beast” and Boyd Holbrook from “Logan“.

The film “A Walk Among the Tombstones,” estimated to cost around $23 million, didn’t break box office records like the “Taken” series did. However, it managed to earn a total of $62 million globally. Critics were impressed by Liam Neeson’s performance in his role and appreciated the movie’s unique mix of action, suspense, and noir elements, which was well-received by viewers as well.

Taken 1, 2, 3 and A Walk Among the Tombstones will arrive on Tubi on June 1.
