Sinners Hits Huge Global Box Office Milestone, Closes In On Being One Of The 10 Biggest Horror Movies Ever

The horror film “Sinners,” helmed by director Ryan Coogler, has surpassed another significant milestone at the box office. In this chilling tale, Michael B. Jordan portrays twin brothers Smoke and Stack who face a sinister threat to their business in their hometown. Since its release on April 18, “Sinners” has shattered records, boasting the top Easter opening weekend for an R-rated movie, posting the second-least drop in viewership during its second week among R-rated movies (behind “Heart Eyes”), and establishing Ryan Coogler’s highest-grossing film outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

On Friday, May 16th, it was revealed that the film “Sinners” earned $4.4 million domestically and $1.2 million internationally, bringing its total global box office revenue to an impressive $303.5 million. This figure surpassed the $300 million mark during its initial weekend in cinemas, making it the fourth movie this year (in 2025) to achieve this significant milestone – following “Captain America: Brave New World”, another Warner Bros. production, “A Minecraft Movie” (also distributed by Warner Bros.), and “Ne Zha 2”.
