Joe Biden is facing a major health battle.
Previously serving as U.S. President, a man aged 82, has been identified with a progressively advancing type of prostate cancer that has moved into his bone structure, according to reports from his private office.
Last week, an announcement made by NBC News stated that President Joe Biden had been found to have a new prostate growth after experiencing worsening urinary issues. On Friday, it was confirmed he has prostate cancer, which is classified as severe (Gleason score of 9, Grade Group 5) and has spread to his bones.
The discussion went on, noting that the illness seems to be a more advanced version, but it’s hormone-responsive, making it manageable effectively. The President and his relatives are currently considering various treatment possibilities in consultation with their doctors.
A source close to Biden and his family revealed to NBC News that several possibilities are under consideration, among them hormone therapy.
Joe Biden is facing a major health battle.
82-year-old, the previous U.S. President, has been diagnosed with a progressively severe type of prostate cancer that has moved into his bone tissue, as reported by his private office.
Last week, President Joe Biden underwent a new examination that discovered a prostate growth, following persistent urinary issues, as stated in an announcement released on May 18th and obtained by NBC News. Subsequently, he was diagnosed with stage 5 prostate cancer, marked by a Gleason score of 9, with the spread to his bones.
The conversation went on to explain that the illness seems to be a more intense version, but since it’s sensitive to hormones, it can be effectively controlled. The President and his loved ones are discussing potential treatments with their doctors.
A source close to Biden and his family’s decision-making process informed NBC News that several different strategies are under consideration, one of which is hormone therapy.
The news arrives approximately four months following Biden’s departure from office in January. Throughout his presidency, there were worries about his age and health, even though a doctor declared him fit for the job after he underwent a regular check-up at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in February.
Previously serving as the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential candidate, Biden withdrew from contention last July. Subsequently, Vice President Kamala Harris assumed his role and commenced her campaign against Donald Trump, who had been re-elected as President in the November polls after winning a second term.
Even though Joe Biden has mostly avoided public attention after completing his term as the oldest president ever in U.S. history, he’s recently made a few appearances for interviews. In early May, he and his wife Jill Biden appeared on the popular talk show “The View”, where they addressed rumors about cognitive decline during his final year in office.
In my viewpoint, what they’re stating isn’t accurate, as there seems to be no substantial evidence supporting it. As for my departure from the race, I chose to do so not because I desired a split within the Democratic Party, but rather for personal reasons.
Ever since I stepped out of the limelight as the oldest ex-president in U.S. history, I’ve been keeping a low profile. But lately, I’ve found myself drawn back into the public eye, giving a few select interviews. In early May, my dear wife Jill and I sat down for a chat on The View, addressing rumors about any cognitive decline during my final months in office.
He stated, “What they’re saying is incorrect. There’s no evidence to support it.” As for his departure from the race, he explained, “I chose to step down because I didn’t want a split within the Democratic Party.
In simpler terms, Biden told the BBC that he didn’t believe moving the transition to Harris earlier would have made a difference regarding the election results.
Approximately a month ago, Biden delivered a speech at an event organized by the Advocates, Counselors, and Representatives for the Disabled (ACRD), and he also attended Pope Francis’s funeral in Italy, which was a rare public appearance for him, alongside his spouse.

In simpler terms, Biden told the BBC that delaying the transition of power to Harris before the actual inauguration wouldn’t have changed the election results.
Approximately one month ago, Biden delivered a speech at an event organized by the Advocates, Counselors, and Representatives for the Disabled (ACRD), and he also made a less common public appearance, attending Pope Francis’s funeral in Italy, accompanied by his spouse.
Look back at the Bidens’ family tree.
30 years old at the time, Senator Joe Biden tragically lost his wife Neilia Hunter Biden and their 13-month-old daughter Naomi in a car accident in 1972. After this devastating event, he channeled his energy into raising his sons Beau and Hunter, temporarily setting aside romantic pursuits.
Frank Biden gave him Jill Jacobs’ phone number a few years back, and that’s when he found himself with her number stored in his contacts, not before that on the stove.
In his 2007 memoir, “Promises to Keep“, Joe expressed that finding love anew with the future first lady brought him back life. He hinted at the possibility that his family could once more be complete and whole.
Joe and Jill married on June 17, 1977.
As a devoted follower, I often find myself reflecting on the memory of my late son, Beau Biden III. He was a brave soldier who served in the Army and held the position of Delaware’s two-term attorney general. Tragically, he lost his life to glioblastoma at the young age of 46 in 2015.
Joe shared with the New York Times upon publication of his 2017 memoir, “Promise Me, Dad,” that Beau, his father, strictly adhered to a personal code of honor. Though it might seem unconventional, this was indeed the case. Beau’s father had a saying: ‘Never explain and never complain.’ Not a single complaint ever came from Beau – not even once.
He remembered a night near the end of Beau’s life, during which Joe claimed that his son had confronted the reality of death. He witnessed Beau endure the loss of his mother and sister. Rather than retreating within himself, Beau didn’t want Joe to withdraw from life. He didn’t want him to succumb to despair.
This version aims to maintain the original meaning while using simpler and more straightforward language.
During his tribute speech for his late brother, Hunter shared his earliest recollection of Beau, which was waking up together in a hospital following a car accident in 1972, a tragedy that took their mother and sister from them.
On the eve of his inauguration in January 2020, at a National Guard/Army Reserve facility honoring his son, Joe expressed his deep sense of pride for hailing from Delaware.
Additionally, I feel an even greater sense of pride being in this position at the Major Beau Biden center. I wish to express one disappointment, though – he isn’t here. If he were, I would be honored to introduce him as our President.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that in the year 2002, I, being Beau Biden, walked down the aisle with the lovely Hallie Olivere, now known as Hallie Biden. Our union bloomed into a beautiful journey, and we were blessed with a precious daughter, Natalie Naomi Biden, in 2004, followed by our sweet son, Robert Hunter Biden II, in 2006. It’s been an incredible ride!
In the aftermath of Beau’s passing, Joe chose not to contest for president in 2016. However, Ron Olivere, Hallie’s father, revealed to Delaware’s News Journal that Joe sought counsel from his daughter before he even entertained the idea of running.
“Her response,” Ron said, “was, ‘Pop, we’re behind you all the way. We’re behind you 100 percent.'”
Natalie, who was 10 when her father passed away, expressed on the show TODAY before her grandfather’s inauguration in January 2020, “I believe Thanksgiving is our most cherished holiday. This is because we often visit Nantucket… [cousin] Maisy and I, my grandpa, my uncle, and my dad… used to participate in a Polar Bear plunge in Nantucket during November.
In the year 2023, she completed her education at St. Andrew’s School, which served as a filming location for parts of “Dead Poets Society,” situated in Middletown, Delaware. Subsequently, she chose to continue her studies at the University of Pennsylvania, an institution that holds a special place in her father’s history.
Natalie attended a May 2024 State Dinner for the president of Kenya with date Rafael Hajjar.
I, being the namesake of my uncle and known as Hunter, tend to maintain a quiet lifestyle, yet I have graced important family milestones such as inaugurations with my presence.
During a CNN townhall with Anderson Cooper in March 2020, Joe mentioned that Beau’s children reside close by in Delaware, and since social distancing was essential at the time, we would chat from our back porch while they sat on the lawn with two chairs. We discussed their daily happenings, school closures, who was causing trouble at home, and so forth.
In 2021, the president and his wife were present at the confirmation ceremony of their grandchild held at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, a church they have been attending for a long time as part of their family.
On February 4, 1970, Robert Hunter Biden entered the world. This Yale Law School alumnus is open about his experiences with addiction issues and various personal battles he’s faced.
In June 2024, it was determined that he had lied about his drug use on a federal firearm background check form and possessed a gun while addicted to or using illegal drugs, all classified as felonies. Prior to his father’s December pardon, he was facing up to 25 years in prison for these offenses.
Hunter also pled guilty to tax-avoidance charges in September.
Despite being overshadowed by unfavorable news stories, Hunter rarely attended his father’s political rallies during the year 2020.
Amidst a barrage of negative press, Hunter seldom made an appearance at his father’s campaign events in the year 2020.
Hunter stated to The New Yorker in 2019 that he and Beau have been by his side since they were transported in baskets during Beau’s initial campaign. They attended every major and minor event related to his political career, with Hunter never missing a rally for his father. It is distressing for him not to be standing beside his father in Philadelphia near the Rocky statue. This situation is painful for both of them, and it is taking a toll on them. His father says, “Be here,” and his mother says, “Be here,” but at what expense?
During the Democratic National Convention in August 2020, Hunter, who had spoken remotely as his father officially received the party’s nomination, was physically present at the president-elect’s victory speech in Wilmington on November 7th.
And despite his troubles, Hunter remains one of the president’s closest advisors.
In 1993, the individual who graduated from Yale Law School tied the knot with Kathleen Buhle. Together, they are proud parents to three lovely girls: Naomi King Biden, who was born on December 23, 1993; Finnegan Biden, born on September 9, 2000; and Maisy Biden, born in the year 2001.
In 2015, the couple parted ways, with Kathleen pointing out substance abuse and infidelity as some of her husband’s issues in her later divorce petition.
After the passing of his brother Beau, Hunter developed a relationship with his widow, Hallie. In a statement to Page Six when this news was revealed in March 2017, he expressed, “Hallie and I are incredibly fortunate to have discovered the love and support we have for each other during such a challenging period, and it’s something that has been evident to those who know us best. We’ve been blessed with family and friends who have stood by us throughout this journey.
The oldest offspring of the Hunter completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by law school at Columbia. Currently, they are working as an associate at Arnold & Porter.
Coincidentally, Naomi and Tiffany Trump went to Penn University at the same time. Interestingly, both Donald Trump and Joe Biden were present at their graduation in 2016. Furthermore, Tiffany even posted a picture of her and Naomi enjoying time together in the Hamptons during the summer of 2018.
Naomi mentioned that her grandfather, who had served as Vice President for two terms under former President Barack Obama, could be reached by any of his grandchildren at any given moment.
She relayed on PBS Newshour in August 2020 that during his speech on stage, he would likely respond with “What’s up?” if we were to contact him.
For several months prior to their November 19, 2022 wedding on the South Lawn, Naomi and future spouse Peter Neal resided with her grandparents at the White House, where they were busy making preparations for their special day.
Naomi shared with Vogue following her wedding that she often has to remind herself it’s the White House, but as time passes, it starts feeling less extraordinary.
On election day Nov. 5, Naomi announced she and her husband were expecting their first child.
Hunter and Kathleen decided to honor the memory of Hunter’s grandmother by naming their second child Catherine Eugenia, who they affectionately call Jean.
the parents named their child after their paternal grandmother (Catherine Eugenia “Jean” Finnegan).
In 2021, she completed her studies at the University of Pennsylvania and has since become a regular presence at significant events in Washington D.C. and beyond, such as when she joined grandma Jill in attending the coronation of King Charles III in April 2023.
In 2023, the President and his wife attended the graduation ceremony of Hunter and Kathleen’s youngest child from the University of Pennsylvania.
Although Finnegan’s sister has a private Instagram account, feel free to explore Maisie’s artwork and peeks into her daily life through her publicly accessible profile instead.
Additionally, she appreciates a well-organized suit style, often choosing a dark jacket and pants, complemented by Air Jordans at her grandfather’s inauguration event, while opting for a Brooks Brothers striped suit at a 2023 White House State Dinner honoring the Australian prime minister in October.
In the month of May, 2019, Hunter tied the knot with filmmaker Melissa Cohen from South Africa in a rooftop wedding ceremony held in Los Angeles following a romantic courtship that spanned over a week.
As a devoted follower, I found an interesting fact: Following our first date, I got the Hebrew phrase “shalom,” which means hello, goodbye, and peace, tattooed on the inside of my left bicep to mirror Melissa’s ink. A few days later, on May 15th, I popped the question. (New Yorker magazine reports this tale)
The following day, she agreed, he went ahead and purchased wedding rings as well as arranging for a wedding ceremony, which included hiring an officiant.
Hunter shared with the magazine that he phoned his father to announce their recent marriage. His dad was on speakerphone and responded by expressing gratitude for providing him the courage to love again. The father also said he would bring Hunter back into the family fold now that he had found love again. To this, Hunter replied, “Dad, I’ve always had love. What made me see it was your unwavering belief in me.
Hunter and Melissa welcomed son Joseph Robinette “Beau” Biden IV on March 28, 2020.
In 2019, Lunden Alexis Roberts filed a child support lawsuit against Hunter, claiming that he is the father of her child, Navy, who was born in August 2018.
Initially, he refused to acknowledge a romantic involvement with Lunden. However, in January 2020, a court in Arkansas granted a paternity order following a DNA test result which established him as the biological father of the child.
As reported by CNBC, the hunter later consented to a monthly child support payment, although the specific sum remains unspecified.
Recognizing that he now has seven grandchildren for the first time, the president expressed in a statement to People, “Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are making an effort to build a relationship that prioritizes their daughter’s wellbeing while respecting her privacy as much as possible moving forward.
He went on saying, “This isn’t about politics; it’s a personal concern. Jill and I are solely focused on ensuring the best for all our grandchildren, with Navy included in that.
On June 9, 1981, Joe Biden and his partner, Jill Biden, were proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Ashley Blazer Biden, who was their one shared child.
In 2010, a Tulane alumna earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice. Since then, she has served as the Associate Director at the Delaware Center for Justice for over seven years.
In the year 2017, Ashley established the fashion label Livelihood. The logo, featuring the letters “LH” intersected by an arrow, was a touching homage to her deceased brother, Beau.
Ashley clarified to The Lily in June 2020 that there are times when we must experience a significant setback before we can propel ourselves forward. In her case, his cancer was like a bow that pushed her to the ground, leaving her no other option but to move forward, persist, and continue chasing her own aspirations.
Joe expressed great pride in her during an interview with TopMob News upon her fashion week debut. He noted that she has been striving to make a global impact since she was just three years old, and he firmly believes she will succeed in her mission.
Ashley shared with TODAY that she intends to leverage her role as the first daughter to champion causes such as social justice, mental health awareness, and community improvement projects.
Regarding handling the harsh criticism aimed at her family, particularly her father and brother Hunter, she stated to Elle in 2023, “The true sign of strength lies in remaining compassionate despite the increasing rudeness of the world.
She may have felt anger, given that anyone you deeply care for being subjected to an attack can stir up such feelings. She further stated, “There are things floating around that are simply untrue and ridiculous.
Through my acquaintance Beau, I was fortunate to meet my esteemed spouse, Howard – a skilled plastic surgeon, academic in otolaryngology, and the leading medical officer at StartUp Health, a venture capital firm.
The doctor sought approval from his future father-in-law (which was given) and later proposed to Ashley during sunset on a cliff in Big Sur, California. In June 2012, they got married in an interfaith ceremony that combined Catholic and Jewish traditions at the church in Delaware where she had been baptized.
Joe shared with People before his wedding that he couldn’t believe how fast his little girl had grown up, saying, “Aw, goodness gracious, my baby girl! It can’t have gone by so quickly.” However, he also mentioned, “But this is the right man for her. And she’s getting an extraordinary woman in return.
Joe is the eldest among four siblings, and his sister Valerie Biden Owens has often been seen accompanying him during his various campaigns throughout his career. Remarkably, she has served as his principal political counselor for nearly five decades.
In an interview with Axios following her brother’s victory in the 2020 election, she noted that he is well-known for being a skilled communicator. Translation: He’s always chattering away like Biden just now, but let me tell you, my brother excels not only at talking, but also at listening.
Valerie stated that if he were to become officially president, she would refer to him as “Joey” or simply “Joe.” Alternatively, if he addresses her as “First Sister,” she intends to address him as “Mr. President.
Naomi tweeted on October 22, 2020, during the final stretch of the presidential campaign: “To reach @JoeBiden, you must go through us first…We may not seem imposing, but keep in mind, our grandmother is none other than @DrBiden.
Later, she posted a picture of her oldest grandchildren embracing their grandfather, who had just been announced winner of the election on November 7, 2020.
