Observing the heights portrayed in various anime like Dragon Ball and DBZ can sometimes be inconsistent, given that multiple animation studios worked on these shows. Characters often seemed to deviate from their intended designs or “on-model” appearance. However, fans have a general understanding of each character’s supposed height, including the female characters, based on the overall presentation and guidebooks available.
In the Dragon Ball series, some female characters tower over typical human heights, surpassing the tallest women in the franchise, while others, like Gure (Tarble’s wife), are shorter, standing only as high as Vegeta’s knees. These characters are either exceptionally tall or have the ability to grow taller through transformation.
Chi-Chi Looks to Be Around 5’4″
At one time, Chi-Chi was the most powerful woman on Earth, but her power was supernatural, not her stature. In terms of height, she appears to be just slightly over 5 feet tall, a fact backed up by various guidebooks, making her height entirely typical.
Though Chi-Chi may be average in terms of height among the group, she stands taller than many other female characters, such as Videl, Launch, Panzie, and Pan. It’s quite noticeable that these women are shorter compared to her. Even though it was a long time ago, during the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, Chi-Chi’s longer legs proved to be an advantage for her.
Bulma is Meant to Be Far Taller Than Her Husband
In most instances, Bulma is portrayed as being roughly the same height as Chi-Chi. However, there are times when she appears slightly taller than Chi-Chi. When compared to Goku or Vegeta, it seems like Bulma is much larger than them, despite what her usual depiction suggests.
Initially, in the original “Dragon Ball”, Bulma stood taller than Goku right up until he matured in the last storyline. However, an unexpected twist occurred in “DBZ” where she fell for a man who was noticeably shorter than her. The most egregious error made in “Dragon Ball Super” could possibly be depicting Vegeta as taller than Bulma.
Cheelai Doesn’t Seem to Be Much Taller Than the Average Woman
When observing the movie “Dragon Ball Super: Broly”, it becomes quite evident that Cheelai is remarkably small. She often appears alongside Broly, who dwarfs her significantly due to his immense size. However, this discrepancy in height makes sense once you recall that Broly stands at around 7 feet tall in his Base form, and towers over 9 feet when he transforms, making him almost a giant in comparison.
It’s clear that Cheelai isn’t noticeably smaller compared to her friend, which implies she is somewhat larger than the typical woman on Earth. Currently, Cheelai appears in the latest chapters of the Dragon Ball Super manga, suggesting a potential future encounter with the human characters from the series.
Gine Has the Power to Transform into a Great Ape
Gine, Goku’s mother, might have been stronger than any female on Earth, yet she was still shorter than the typical human woman. Standing at around 5 feet in her natural form, she is indeed shorter than Videl and Launch. However, much like other Saiyans of her time, Gine possesses a secret technique for changing her size.
Beneath the glow of a full moon, Gine often undergoes a transformation. It’s widely acknowledged that she has executed this metamorphosis numerous times, given her background as a formidable planet conqueror who eventually found herself conflicted. In her transformed state, Gine towers over most female characters in the series, with the exceptions being those from Planet Vegeta.
Ribrianne Can Grow to Giant-Size as Super Ribrianne
In Universe 2, it’s worth noting that Ribrianne, the champion, isn’t the tallest among the Kamikaze Fireballs. She’s only slightly taller than her normal height as Brianne de Chateau. However, much like the Saiyans, Ribrianne possesses the ability to increase her size dramatically.
In regular terms, Ribrianne might appear quite small, but Super Ribrianne towers over any Great Ape. During her fight with Android 18 from Universe 7, a warrior had to climb up her body, taking considerable time to reach her face, demonstrating her immense size. Considering the challenges of being so big in most situations, it’s unlikely that Ribrianne transforms frequently.
Android 18 is as Tall as Her Twin Brother
In contrast to the other female characters in Dragon Ball, who typically range from about 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, Android 18 appears to be significantly taller, seeming more like she stands around 5 feet 7 inches. She towers over her fellow women and even dwarfs her husband Krillin in height, although that’s not too challenging for her.
According to Akira Toriyama, it’s plausible that Android 18 was given her height because of her connection with Android 17, as they are twins. It makes sense for them to be roughly the same size, and their similar appearances add to the visual appeal. Android 17 is slightly shorter than an average man, while Android 18 is slightly taller than an average woman, but this difference isn’t emphasized much in the storyline.
Heles’ Height is Reflective of Her Grand Status
Amongst the Deities of Destruction, Heles stands alone as a female figure. Not just because of her gender, but also due to her striking height: she towers over several other deities including Champa, Iwan, Quitela, Arak, Sidra, Mule, and Giin.
Dragon Ball often creates crucial and potent characters with humble and unassuming appearances, but it can be refreshing when they match our expectations. Heles, being the sole goddess of the multiverse, stands head and shoulders above any non-transformed mortal woman in height. Perhaps if she reappears, fans might finally get to witness her towering presence alongside another character.
Kale is at Her Tallest in Her Berserk State
Initially, Kale appears incredibly small in her normal state. However, she can transform into multiple Super Saiyan forms at an astonishing speed, with each transformation causing her to grow significantly larger. In her enraged form, Kale towers over any other non-giant female character in the Dragon Ball universe.
Generally, Super Saiyans don’t grow taller, but Kale is unique because she’s a Legendary Super Saiyan from Universe 6, similar to Broly. This makes her physiology unusual among Super Saiyans, making her the strongest mortal woman in the multiverse and giving her an appearance fitting for her power during transformations.
Android 21 Towers Over Nearly Every Character in Dragon Ball FighterZ
Among the characters in “Dragon Ball Z”, Super Buu towers at approximately 8 feet tall. Android 21, though not as imposing in height, shares a similar design concept. This artificial Majin is one of the largest females in the series, and interestingly, she doesn’t require a transformation to assert this size advantage.
As I step into the arena of Dragon Ball FighterZ for the first time, I find myself towering over many opponents as Android 21 – one of the game’s most imposing figures! Standing at least six feet tall, I dwarf even the average male human, and I’m not done growing yet!
In this world of Dragon Ball, there are only a handful of characters who can claim taller stature than me. The likes of Broly, Tien Shinhan, and Android 16 are the select few who share my towering height, making our encounters in the game truly epic!
Vados is Not Only the Tallest Woman in Dragon Ball, But Potentially the Most Powerful
In the Dragon Ball universe, Vados from Universe 6 is notably one of the tallest female characters, standing well over 7 feet tall, making her one of the tallest women in the series. Although her towering height doesn’t necessarily imply she’s the most powerful character, it’s worth noting that her only significant competition in terms of strength comes from her elder sister, Kusu.
In comparison to Whis, Vados may not be as tall, but she stands much taller than the God of Destruction Champa in her universe. Similarly, she outmatches Kusu and her sisters Martinu and Marcarita in terms of size. In the Dragon Ball series, it’s highly improbable that any female character will exceed Vados in height without undergoing a transformation.
