As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as I reflect on the success of “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” which, with an impressive estimated earning of $51 million, adds another triumphant tick to Warner Bros.’ winning streak. This latest victory follows hot on the heels of “A Minecraft Movie” and “Sinners,” both of which have been consistently ranking among the top five weekend earners.
Speaking of “Sinners,” it saw a minimal drop of 30%, raking in $15.4 million, while “A Minecraft Movie,” now in its seventh week, dropped an even more modest 23% with nearly $5.9 million.
The gap of 14 years between the latest installment of the “Final Destination” franchise, “Final Destination 5” (released in 2011), and “Bloodlines” might have cast some doubt on its potential success, but the unwavering interest in witnessing Death’s intricate dance of fate within this IP is as clear as crystal.
Without accounting for inflation, it’s already earning more than both Final Destination 2 and Final Destination 5. So, how soon until it becomes the top-grosser in the series? Not much time at all.
When Will Final Destination: Bloodlines Become the Highest-Grossing Installment of the Franchise?
By the end of its fourth day, it’s predicted that the movie “Bloodlines” will surpass the original, unadjusted earnings of both the first “Final Destination” film ($53.3 million) and “Final Destination 3” from 2006 ($54.1 million). At this moment, the highest-earning installment in the series is also its lowest point, a 2009 release called “The Final Destination,” which saw an increase in earnings thanks to its adoption of the 3D technology trend.
The movie earned approximately $66.5 million in revenue, and considering “Bloodlines” has a good chance of exceeding this amount by Tuesday (a day historically known for high-grossing weekday sales due to discounted tickets). If it fails to reach that mark on Tuesday, it will definitely surpass it before the next weekend.
In a positive development for Bloodlines, its international earnings match its domestic three-day revenue of $51 million. With The Final Destination and Final Destination 5 significantly increasing their domestic earnings abroad, it suggests a promising future for Bloodlines in all markets in the long run.
In simple terms, “Bloodlines” is set to be the initial movie to gross over $100 million in the domestic box office without any adjustments. However, when we account for inflation, some other films have come close but not quite reached that mark. For instance, the original film from 2000 ($99.3 million) and “Final Destination 2” (around $82 million in 2025 dollars) fell short, while “Final Destination 3” earned about $86 million and “The Final Destination” just managed to match the original’s adjusted total of $99.4 million.
To put it simply, if Final Destination 5 were launched today, it would have earned approximately $60.8 million from ticket sales. Essentially, Bloodlines is poised not only to surpass its immediate predecessor’s weekly ticket sales but also set a new record for the highest number of tickets sold in the entire franchise.
