For several weeks now, the void left by the finale of “My Hero Academia” last year has been gradually filled by its spin-off, “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes”. Even though it wasn’t created by Kohei Horikoshi, it’s managed to retain the same enchantment as the original series thanks to a new endearing cast, stunning visuals, and spectacular battles. To make matters even more enticing, an anime adaptation is now showcasing what many believe to be its finest fight scene yet, animated by a renowned artist from “One Piece” and “Jujutsu Kaisen”.
In Episode 6 of “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” I witnessed Stendhal zeroing in on both Soga Kugisaki and Koichi. When it was Soga’s turn to be in peril, Koichi bravely intervened. Unfortunately, Koichi found himself incapacitated by Stendhal’s quirk, Bloodcurdle. But just when all hope seemed lost, Knuckleduster swooped in with a breathtaking, swift exchange of blows, animated masterfully by none other than Vincent Chansard, renowned for his work on iconic battles like Zoro vs. King, Garp vs. Kuzan, Shanks vs. Kid, and the epic showdown between Sukuna and Mahoraga in Season 2 of “Jujutsu Kaisen.

One Piece Animator Vincent Chansard Leaves His Mark on My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
Throughout his work on series such as One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Black Clover, Boruto, and Mob Psycho 100, Vincent Chansard has built a strong reputation within the anime industry and among fans of the medium due to his distinctive, extravagant cuts. Although Chansard’s cut in Episode 6 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes may not reach the same level of excessiveness, it masterfully transforms what were merely a few panels in the manga into an enchanting 20-second sequence.
Make no doubt, the signature style and impact of Vincent Chansard is undeniably present, even in a seemingly ordinary close-up shot of Stendhal’s sword at the start of the fight, reminiscent of scenes from One Piece. Although this isn’t his initial appearance within the My Hero Academia universe, this episode in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes could very well be Chansard’s most distinctive contribution to the franchise yet. Fingers crossed that this marks a trend for more of Chansard’s work not just in Vigilantes , but also in the upcoming final season of My Hero Academia.
