True to their word, Ubisoft Mainz showcased an extensive gameplay demo for “Anno 187: Pax Romana,” in which players assume the role of a Roman provincial governor. Their mission is to construct a thriving city in Latium that caters to the Emperor’s needs, but achieving this goal won’t be a walk in the Colosseum.
The process begins by setting up infrastructure to collect resources, such as timber, and constructing dwellings for laborers. It’s crucial to provide amenities like markets to cater to your citizens’ requirements, while maintaining a distance from unsanitary facilities (like avoiding placing a pig farm too close). Additionally, players have the option to build their own villa to oversee the city.
As trade expands to neighboring cities, so does diplomacy. A robust military becomes crucial for securing our coastal defenses against pirates. In time, you may explore Albion, home of the Celts, where we can either impose Roman rule or acknowledge their traditions.
In the year 117 (AD), the game titled “Pax Romana” will be released later this year on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC platforms. A live stream event has been planned for May 21st, where the developers will share additional details about the game, so keep an eye out!
