Enthusiasts of Disney were disheartened when the cherished “Paint the Night” Parade departed Main Street U.S.A. in 2018, but now there’s something to look forward to: this much-loved, stunning nighttime parade is coming back to Disneyland for the park’s 70th anniversary celebration. The “Paint the Night” parade is just one of the after-dark events that Disneyland intends to impress visitors with during the festivities.
Paint the Night” became a cherished spectacle among Disney enthusiasts due to its innovative take on classic characters, illuminated by over a million LED lights. This nighttime extravaganza transformed Main Street U.S.A. into a vibrant wonderland, captivating guests of all ages. The general idea behind the parade revolved around Mickey Mouse leveraging his creative powers and Tinker Bell’s pixie dust to animate scenes from beloved Disney movies such as “Monsters, Inc.”, “Cars”, “Toy Story”, and “Beauty and the Beast”. Although it was much-loved, “Paint the Night” was temporarily halted to accommodate seasonal entertainment at the parks.
The parade provided a wonderful boost following an exhausting day spent at the park. Originally, the “Paint the Night” Parade ceased in 2016 and resurfaced briefly in 2018. In celebration of Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary, the beloved sisters from Arendelle, Anna and Elsa, will return to the parade for the first time since its original run on a fan-favorite float inspired by the animated film “Frozen.” It seems that fans couldn’t forget their affection for the parade when it came to the heroines of Arendelle.
As a devoted cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that “Light up the Night” made its comeback at Disneyland over the weekend, and it’s been met with nothing but warmth! This enchanting parade, running twice each evening, has left every viewing spot brimming with enthusiasts, all eagerly waiting to immerse themselves in the spellbinding spectacle.
Disneyland Fans Embrace the Parade’s New Finale Song and Clamor for Merch
Frequently, people who cherish traditional elements of a park like the “Paint the Night” parade can feel apprehensive about changes. Yet, as the parade began its journey along Main Street U.S.A., visitors immediately noticed a fresh melody in its finale to celebrate Disneyland’s 70th anniversary. This new song took over from the timeless “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah.
Last night, I was back at Disneyland and let me tell you, it was magical! The Paint the Night parade made its grand return, and it was a sight to behold. As the show drew to a close, they played the brand-new Disneyland 70 theme song – talk about an emotional ending! It’s incredible how these little moments at Disneyland can fill you with so much joy and nostalgia.

Disney Brings More Light and Color to Parks with “Wondrous Journeys” and “World of Color Happiness! “
At Disneyland, the evening entertainment doesn’t conclude with the “Paint the Night” Parade but rather escalates to the freshly introduced “Wondrous Journeys.” This innovative show utilizes cutting-edge projection technology to metamorphose iconic park locations such as Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, “It’s a Small World,” and the Rivers of America. It will reenact scenes from popular films like Hercules, The Princess and the Frog, and Encanto right before your eyes. On certain nights, the spectacle is amplified further with the addition of fireworks.
Lastly, the Disney California Adventure Park is set to debut a new show named “World of Color Happiness” over Paradise Bay. Drawing inspiration from Walt Disney’s words when the park initially opened 70 years ago (“To all who come to this happy place… welcome!”), this “nighttime spectacular” will be led by Joy and other emotions from Inside Out and Inside Out 2. Attendees can look forward to enjoying a medley of classic Disney tunes, featuring a rendition of “Rainbow Connection” by Boyz II Men and an original song called “Makes Me Wanna Move” by FITZ. Since the lineup promises a lively mix of songs, it’s no surprise that visitors are encouraged to join in the singing and dancing!
