You Won’t Believe Which Unlikely Hero Joins Sam Wilson’s New Avengers Team!

Based on recent news, Sam Wilson’s new group of Avengers might feature an unexpected character that could catch viewers off guard. Following hints dropped in Jake Schreier’s Thunderbolts film, this fresh lineup of Avengers (not the New Avengers) is expected to appear on-screen for the first time as part of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, teaming up to confront the villainous Doctor Doom portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. Yet, who will stand alongside Anthony Mackie’s Captain America on this team remains a mystery for fans.

According to sources like Daniel Richtman, it’s being suggested that Yelena Belova, portrayed by Florence Pugh, could potentially join Sam Wilson’s future team of Avengers. This might come as a surprise to some fans, given the apparent tension between these two Marvel Cinematic Universe characters at the end of Thunderbolts, which seems to be setting up potential conflicts between the New Avengers (or Thunderbolts) and Sam’s new group.

Richtman shared the report on his individual website, noting that Yelena is expected to become a member of Sam Wilson’s powerful superhero squad during the movie Avengers: Doomsday, at an unspecified time.

At the conclusion of the Thunderbolts/New Avengers, Yelena was in charge. The final scene hinted at future events depicted in Doomsday, as the ex-Black Widow assassin noticed an unknown spaceship approaching our solar system, which appeared to originate from the Fantastic Four.

In the upcoming movie “Avengers: Doomsday”, Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson, who takes on the role of Captain America for the first time, will stand alongside other heroes such as Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Letitia Wright’s Black Panther. Together, they prepare to confront the formidable and enigmatic multiverse-traversing villain Doctor Doom, portrayed by MCU veteran Robert Downey Jr.

Under the guidance of seasoned Marvel Cinematic Universe directors Joe and Anthony Russo, the movie titled “Doomsday” is set to premiere in cinemas on May 2, 2026. This film kick-starts a two-part Avengers saga that will reach its climax with the release of “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027.

Why Will Yelena Belova Join The Avengers?

This report will likely confuse fans who just saw Thunderbolts* in theaters.

In simple terms, after the credits ended, the Thunderbolts* made it clear that Sam Wilson was irritated because the Thunderbolts/New Avengers were utilizing the Avengers name without obtaining the approval of the initial team first.

It’s quite intriguing to consider if Yelena Belova and Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson might collaborate after their apparent conflict in “Avengers: Doomsday,” given that they seem destined for confrontation. However, it’s plausible that both scenarios could unfold, considering the extensive nature of “Doomsday,” much like the previous “Avengers” films.

In simpler terms, this implies that characters like Florence Pugh’s Yelena and Anthony Mackie’s Sam may initially have conflicts over something trivial, such as the name of the Avengers, but these disputes will be set aside when they encounter a common enemy in Doctor Doom and his ominous plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s renowned metahumans.

By the film’s conclusion, not only will Yelena be inducted into the Avengers, but also the entire Thunderbolts squad, including Red Guardian, US Agent, Sentry, and potentially others, will have formally become members of Earth’s main superhero team or will work closely with them as a supporting unit.

If the New Avengers team persisted past the “Doomsday” storyline and Yelena wasn’t among those who joined the main Avengers, it wouldn’t come as a shock if she acted as a liaison between the two groups.

Including Florence Pugh in the official Avengers team would be a significant move, as it would give her the opportunity to take on a more substantial role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), a task that is exclusive to officially recognized Avengers members. At 29 years old, she could help carry the franchise forward in the coming years.
