NVIDIA’s latest driver fixes some big issues with DOOM: The Dark Ages

Yesterday’s discussion focused on the disappointing debut of DOOM: The Dark Ages on PC, marred by numerous and severe bugs, particularly affecting NVIDIA graphics users. However, I’m pleased to say that the situation has significantly improved now.

On May 19, the latest driver version, 576.52, was released without explicitly mentioning fixes for DOOM: The Dark Ages. However, after giving it a spin, I can attest that it does bring about noticeable improvements.

Previously, I couldn’t manage to run the game at all; it would minimize itself automatically when using the initial Game Ready driver.

reddit users have shared positive experiences using it with elderly drivers, however, I haven’t had the opportunity to test it myself yet.

It appears that DOOM: The Dark Ages has addressed, at minimum, the background bug issue, and it’s hoped that many of the other known launch problems will also be resolved. Unfortunately, I don’t have the necessary equipment to verify all fixes, but it’s clear that progress has been made in addressing these issues.

Despite occasional game crashes, I was advised to update my BIOS before playing for the first time due to having a 14th Generation Intel CPU, given the microcode-related issue it presents.

After updating the BIOS, the issue seemed to resolve temporarily, but during approximately 2 hours of gameplay, the game crashed on three occasions, and each crash caused my computer to freeze entirely on two of those instances.

It seems unlikely that my CPU is corrupted, as suggested in the initial report, because most of the time when I use or play games on my computer, everything functions normally. Therefore, I am more inclined to believe there are DOOM-related glitches or errors causing the problem.

However, I’m excited to share that I’ve managed to play DOOM: The Dark Ages, and if you’ve been facing similar issues with your NVIDIA graphics system, there’s a good chance you can do so too. To help you out, download the latest NVIDIA driver from either the NVIDIA App or directly from their website.
