Microsoft makes limited edition Surface Slim Pen in vibrant colors, but you can’t buy one

Enthusiasts of the Surface line have noticed several videos showing off vibrant Surface Slim Pen 2s, typically only available in black. Sadly, Microsoft has confirmed that these colorful accessories are special edition items and won’t be produced for purchase, making it impossible to acquire one yourself.

At a recent event for the new 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop, Microsoft presented a variety of special edition Surface Slim Pens. These eye-catching pens were distributed among the influencers who were invited to this occasion by Microsoft.

It appears that Microsoft has produced four distinct colors for their special edition Surface Slim Pen: orange, yellow, purple, and blue. Regrettably, we only have quality visuals of the orange and purple versions, thanks to a short video shared by @renzsadiwa and a YouTube upload by @boxiii respectively.

Previously, Microsoft has introduced multi-colored versions of the Surface Pen. In fact, the initial Surface Pen models often came in shades that coordinated with the Surface Type Cover accessories that were on sale then.

The Surface Slim Pen was initially introduced in only one color, black, when it debuted in 2019 with the Surface Pro X. Since then, Microsoft has discontinued offering the pen in various colors.

Although these vibrant Special Edition Surface Slim Pens are exclusive and distributed sparingly among a select group, it’s encouraging to observe Microsoft dabbling with colorful pens once more. Fingers crossed for an expansion of color choices in the upcoming Surface Slim Pen 3 whenever its release is announced.

In the meantime, you can buy yourself the Surface Slim Pen 2 in black for around $100 on Amazon.
