It’s been revealed that a fresh collection for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, titled “Inferno X,” is scheduled to hit online platforms soon. Previously, a trademark hinted at this set back in March. Now, more details about “Inferno X” have surfaced, including its release date in Japan on September 26th. As suggested by the title, this new collection will emphasize Mega Charizard X and is expected to include at least one brand-new card featuring this popular Pokemon. At present, specifics are scarce, but we know that “Inferno X” will follow “Mega Brave” and “Mega Symphonia,” which are slated for release in the region on August 1st.
It’s likely that The Pokemon Company will bring together the Inferno X set with others for an English release, similar to what they’ve done in the past. We’ve understood for a while now that the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is going to transition its focus from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and instead emphasize Mega Evolutions to align with Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is scheduled for release later this year. Speculation suggests that these initial sets will concentrate on Mega Evolutions that have been previously introduced in other games, followed by a shift towards those from the upcoming game.
Currently, it’s uncertain when exactly Pokemon Legends: Z-A will release, but it’s planned for launch this year on both Nintendo Switch and its successor, Nintendo Switch 2. The game promises the reintroduction of Mega Evolutions within the series, though no specific Pokémon have been officially confirmed yet. In recent times, rumors have surfaced hinting at popular Pokémon like Feraligatr and Emboar receiving Mega Evolutions, but The Pokemon Company has not yet revealed any details about the game at this point.
In most cases, new Pokemon games come out in November. If this pattern continues for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, we can expect to learn more about the game soon. It’s possible that the first Mega Evolution set translated into English could be revealed around the same time or even before, with a subsequent set emphasizing cards of the new Mega Evolutions following closely. However, these are just predictions until an official announcement is made.
Mega Evolution first appeared in Pokemon X and Y back in 2013, but it’s been scarce in both the main series games and trading card game for quite a while. The upcoming reintroduction of this feature has generated a lot of excitement among fans, who are eager to see how it will be incorporated. It seems likely that The Pokemon Company is emphasizing popular characters such as Mega Gardevoir and Mega Charizard X in the TCG initially, but fans are hoping for some fresh Mega Evolution character designs soon.
